the movie version and this one are a bit different. most notably at 3:19 has one sitar, 4:03 the apna is extra stretching and higher pitched and 4:21 has another stretching garva laga le is longer

I took this from an old CD which may have extracted the song from a master tape of some kinds. The versions available on CD now are trimmed versions that don’t run longer than 3:35 mins. And the film version, as you said is much different. On top of all that you’ve listed, the film version has a bit of an “off-key” santoor opening. Madan Mohan had an outburst at the recording studio during the time this song was being recorded. It is likely that the santoor opening caused him to lose his temper.

@@Aakkash91 sadly, none of the claims you make have any correlation to the fact that Lataji did not sing this version. It is from a spool version of Mera Saaya that was released on a 1997 CD. It has different frequencies from the versions you hear on CDs presently. This CD was compiled by Sanjeev Kohli ji, son of Madan Mohan. He must have provided a original master tape of the song.
