Robert Taylor Because this is a story of sadness and a man who realizes later in his life that he, as he says in the film, has "done a lotta bad things," and that he cannot restore his life like it was before.

umm this is Scorsese's best movie its his masterpiece.......taxi driver is my favorite scorsese movie cus its the only one that is an original screenplay hes the best director......comming out with.......shutter island 2009..........w00t!!

I don't think DeNiro has surpassed or wll ever surpass his performance as Jake Lamotta. I am a big film buff and for what my opinion is worth - I would say that this performance is the pinnacle as far as cinema is concerned.
