@@selinxsener because he knew lagartha and that if she wanted to leave him then that's what she was going to do and begging her to not go would only make her lose respect for him, besides he asked her to stay with him and allow him to have more children with aslaug on the side but lagartha thought that would be to embarrassing and shameful for her to have a husband who openly has another woman and that people would know she could no longer have children. You can tell by how he speaks to her, how he looks at her and how he remembers her that he truly did love lagartha but destiny drove them apart. You should watch the rest of the show, it's weird to judge a character from just one season.

Ragnar openly stated what they both knew, it wasnt love that brought them together. Ragnar wanted more sons, he had been told he would have more sons, Lagertha clearly wasnt the one who could give him that, and Aslaugh didnt love Ragnar, but she knew that he was an Earl/Jarl now, a position of power and he had become famous enough that everyone knew he was the first one to sail to new undiscovered lands, he had power and position, all she had was being the daughter of legendary mom and father, but she had accomplished nothing herself. And so she was willing to give him what he wanted if he gave her what she wanted and they both delivered.

@thomasjoseph5876
@thomasjoseph5876 4 ай бұрын
Very true. What's even better is when you can get people to admire you even though you are a "bad person" then you know the acting is supreme. A perfect example is some professional wrestlers. Stone Cold Steve Austin and Rowdy Roddy Piper are the two biggest ones. They were billed as "Heels" or "Bad Guys" but their acting was so great that they became "Anti-Heroes" and were loved by the audience to the point that the WWE had to turn them into "Good Guys" LOL. Now that is some excellent acting. Let's not forget "The Rock", Dwayne Johnson. He started off as a "bad guy" but he played his character so charismatic that people couldn't help but love him. He would literally degrade them and the city/state they lived in and STILL, they loved him LOL. Another example is Tom Hiddlestead's character of Loki in the Avenger/Thor movies. The dude tried to kill his father and his brother, Thor, and the audience STILL loved him LOL.

She was a terrible queen. Lagertha showed just how easily an enemy could waltz in and kill her or any one of her citizens when she finally evened the score for seducing Ragnar all those years ago. All that time Ragnar spent abroad and Auslaug spent none of it actually improving Kattegat and its defenses. As an English queen consort that might be fine, but for a Viking that was pitiful - with Lagertha in charge the town would have become a stone walled fortess by that time.

Listen carefully to Aslaug’s last words. She wanted Lagaertha to kill her in a way she would end up in Valhalla. Notice L said, “I understand,” to her request and the slight smile on A’s face when she went down.

Until fairly recently in human history marriage had very little to do with love. Marrying for love is quite a modern idea. Back in those times it was essential for a man to have sons for the continuation of the family, for labor distribution and for new warriors. It wasn't PC but that's just the way it was. If society falls it will be that way again.

It’s also truly sad because before all this, she wanted his love. She came to him as an untamable, witty young princess and ended as broken-hearted, neglected and cold woman who feels unloved and forgotten. A product of years after her circumstances. None of them were perfect but damn, Auslaug did her very best to the bitter end, no matter what betrayals, dashed hopes, and danger came her way.

@@sylviamartinez9810 Ragnar is the one who did the damage. Ragnar is the one who betrayed Lagertha. How can a woman who owes you no loyalty, and doesn't even know you, betray you? It's ridiculous how we blame women for men cheating on their wives. We never blame men for sleeping with a married woman, unless the man knows and is close to the married womans husband. We don't even blame the new man when the married woman leaves her husband for the new man. It's completely stupid to expect more from one gender than the other.

Many mothers do not realize that talking ill about their ex husband to their sons or daughters doesn't just hurt the father but the child as well. Especially for boys. The thing that women need to realize is that we don't just see our father as a man that raises us, we see him as an older version of ourself. When a mother criticizes the father, the son takes that criticism personally. It might be subtle but those words might affect your confidence and feeling of self worth for years, if not your entire life. Of course this probably goes the other way around too.

As a wife and mother of sons and daughters, when you bad mouth your husband, it only comes back to hurt you and the children. Better for them to respect their father, even if he's not so great. My husband started out pretty awful, an alcoholic. I stuck by him, and we worked through it, and luckily our kids respect and love us both. I think because I taught them to respect him, and I earned their respect through keeping my temper, and having self control.

I didnt speak ill of my ex after we divorced and supported my boys having some kind of relationship with him. However I didnt push them into a relationship either. He treated us like show ponies. Sadly, they were disappointed with every interaction with him, and they see what I know him to be. I had to be careful to not say unkind words about him, and reminded them so.edsy their anger towards him will heal. I taught them to establish boundaries with him so they werent emotionally tied ant results in the relationship for damage control. Super painful to experience them being hurt. I broke my heart. I remember once my son spoke with a counselor. A while after the session, my son told me the counselor suggested he lower his standards in relation to his dad. My son replied " tobthe counselor that they couldnt be any lower. He was 17. The counselor didnt offer any further suggestions. Both the boys now have little to do with him. Their dad doesn' even know how old they are or when their birthdays are even though we divorced when they were in their early teens. I'm glad i didn't force them into having a relationship with him, and just focused on trying to help them let go.

Every man's dream is to have a wife like this. Someone who no matter your mistakes, you can rely on to help you raise the kids and never poison them against you. Even if some men deserve scorn and retribution for their mistakes, its never good to instill hatred in children for their parent. One parent poisoning their child against another parent is ultimately still harming the children, even if it's warrented.
