Saruman's army of Uruk-hai was built for one purpose... to destroy the race of men. The battle of Helm's Deep begins.
About The Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers
In the part second of the Tolkien trilogy, Frodo Baggins and the other members of the Fellowship continue on their sacred quest to destroy the One Ring--but on separate paths. Their destinies lie at two towers--Orthanc Tower in Isengard, where the corrupt wizard Saruman awaits, and Sauron's fortress at Barad-dur, deep within the dark lands of Mordor.

In the books, when Eomer meets the three hunters, Eomer insults Giladriel. Gimli would be ready to throw down with him. Shows how Gimli developed a connection with the Elves. Leogolas would then defend Gimli's honor when Eomer threatens Gimli which we would see in the film.

Fun facts: 1. The Elves were high-school/college students hired as extras and had to be drilled to march in formation for the scene, which wasn't easy and took the work of several people from the military. 2. The Uruks stomping the ground with their spears wasn't really planned. The actors playing the Uruks just got bored on set and started it at random. Jackson liked it so much that he used it in the movie.

The three volleys of arrows are well thought out: as the orc army closes in, the elves atop the tower fire first as they can hit the furthest and have the best aim, second as the orcs get closer, the Rohan archers as they are not as strong or as accurate, and then finally the elves behind the wall as they are firing blind but they go last when the mass of orcs are closest. Also the archers respond to their respective commanders: Elves to Aragorn and Rohan archers to Theoden

That's part of why I dislike the fact that Jackson brought elves into this scene. He is basically forced to give them cheap deaths, otherwise there's nothing for Erkenbrand and the Rohan to do when they arrive with Gandalf. Also detracts from how bleak it looked for them, as in the books you have barely a thousand preparing to defend against an army more than ten times their numbers.

He was literally raised in Rivendell for like 60 years, they watched him grow up from a year old to a man and still he visited them often Plus he is a descendant of Elrond's brother, quite expressly family albeit distant, like a nephew to an elf over so many years Even without Rohan and Gondor he is the chief of his people in Arnor, Chief of the Dunedain, surrounding the shire, from Blue to Misty mountain, and bordering Rivendell

I will always remember being absolutely blown away by the Helms Deep battle in theaters as a kid. While the battles in the third film are more grandiose in scale and stakes, Helms Deep is just absolutely brutal to watch. How close everyone is, how you can almost feel some of the wounds people get, how at times you'll see strong soldiers, to old farmers or small children, to how EVERYONE is battling frigid rain... This is lightning in a bottle. It cannot be replicated. Easily among my all time favorite movie battle sequences.

This is fantasy so I'll give it a pass but IRL archers would open up the minute they came into ranges. Like I said though, well done fantasy film that isn't insulting. I'll give them a pass.

@@MrFabulous01 I think it was meant to invoke a sense of nobody wanting to kick over the hornets' nest. They had probably only just barely finished preparing for the siege with much work left to be done by the time the orcs show up. If the inhuman army of iron-clad orcs wants to stop right at the 90 yard line, let's see if we can't find an extra post or two to push into that main gate. But the moment someone let's loose an arrow, instead of an extra minute or two of prep time which could save lives, it's "WE FIGHT NOW".

@zebfirehd9102 3 ай бұрын
@@dinochookproductions5190 True you only have so much ammunition per archer. not to mention some of the Uruks may take more than 1 arrow to kill depending where the arrow strikes it may only wound them a little or cripple a single arm. some arrows will probably not pierce there platemail so that arrows wasted in a battle were they cannot afford misses.
