Do you feel like this offers enough difference from the original game and Ares Expedition to be worth picking up? It seems so similar, and Ares Expedition kind of fills the "Terraforming Mars but quicker" space.

When I am going to play it I will place the counter cube on 50 to make the game countdown. Also this the theme song will be the "The Final Countdown" by "Europe".

@@rahdo Just got the Kickstarter game. To win the regular (not solo) you need to meet 2 of the 3 metrics (not all three) - same time stamp approx 0:44 where what you said is correct (just two of the three metrics have been completed) - the Klingon subtitle incorrectly corrects what you said (at least with the final game that I just got :)

Correct me if I'm wrong buy I think you cant tap your blue card on turn 4 since you already did both of your actions (collecting a die and building a card)

At 20:32, when you are retroactively tapping blue in turn 4, you couldn’t as it counts as your main action which u used to play the card - can’t play a card and tap it in same turn??

You can if the card is a "Free Action" card (the ones that have 3 green dots and a green arrow)... from the rules: "Free action: Some blue cards have free actions that may be taken at any time during your turn, before or after your support action or main action, or even at the start or end of a Production turn. Perform the effect and flip the card sideways."

TM: Roll n' Write coming next, then TM: The RPG. I'm happy just playing classic TM, and after the less than professional execution of the TMBB KS, I avoided Ares and will be avoiding this entry as well. This looks like a competent (if uninspired) iteration of classic TM, and I'm sure it will please some cohort of players new to the TM franchise.

that i cannot say. the final version of ares expedition was quite a bit nighter than the prototype i demoed with, but i have no idea what will happen with this one

@@rahdo You do know that there are 3 different versions of the final version of Ares Expedition! There’s the KS version; the “mass market” Target edition - with cheaper components (no dual layered player boards, for example); and the more hobbyist version, which is similar to the KS version, but without the promo pack - which you can buy separately from the publisher.

Ares Expedition fell flat for me, but this version looks exciting! It looks like it has all the tag-matching and comboing that I liked in the original game but in a smaller package. (I still don't think it will replace the original for me, but it will definitely replace Ares Expedition.)

In general I think the gameplay looks quite good but thematically it makes absolutely no sense that you can play animals on a planet with no oxygen and in addition to that it's also extremely cold 🥶

i imagine if you play them early, thematically they're all kept in enclosed and atmosphere controlled spaces :)

Plus one of the corporations let's you play a green card ignoring conditions, so I assumed the same.

I feel like they keep making the same game over and over with different mechanics. Maybe they should at least give us the ability to terraform Venus rather than Mars (and not just the add on they did before). Not sure I want to buy the game a third time.

Lol you actually use your blue card once more before turn 6 and still played two actions in turn 6. Is using a blue card an action or not?

I reeeeally dislike how they went with an unregular card size, smaller, and now everything doesnt fit on the card. That’s going to annoy me every.single.time.

@@rahdo maybe but the devs were clever enough to have decent art and design for ares expedition. Feels like a step back. I appreciate my one opinion doesn't matter to the devs, but personally I like games that play good AND look good, and for that reason I will wait for retail on this and get it on offer, if at all. Those horrible grey borders as well...ah well just me!

well you're looking at different cards than me! the art is significantly improved over orig TM to my eyes, but i guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder! :)
