Rahu Maha Dasa is one of the very long periods Dasas like Saturn (19 Y), Mercury (17 Y) , Jupiter (16Y) and Venus (20). Rahu Maha Dasa runs for 18 years. Vedic Astrology describes Rahu as Kali Purusha. He wants all kinds of worldly pleasures. He creates a passion for the worldly house qualities in which he is placed. He creates a deep-rooted desire. It is not a normal desire, it is like an excessive desire. He is tricky, deceitful and tries to achieve things in a shortcut. He does not like working hard, achieving and enjoying the worldly pleasures in a systematic way. Rahu wants everything in quickness. He indulges in excessive enjoyment and wants related things for enjoyment in a shortcut way. The same qualities Rahu gives to the native in his Maha Dasa.
Now let us see the results during the Rahu Maha Dasa. During their mahadasa period, planets give their qualities to the native. During Kuja Dasa a native act with the qualities of Kuja. We will find aggression in the native undergoing Kuja Mahadasa. Likewise, the native works like Rahu in his Maha Dasa.
The native tries to earn more money and explores shortcuts in his approach to life in Rahu Dasa - be it in business or in a career or in personal relations or in any aspect of life. During the Rahu Dasa, native understands and explores the shortcuts for pleasure in all aspects of life.
Some natives also get married in Rahu Dasa. However, such marriages take a place suddenly in an unexpected way. Natives marry someone whom he does not know previously. Such kind of suddenness is also one of the attributes of the Rahu. In a positive sense, marriage takes place suddenly. Further, life takes a turn to a new dimension/direction at the start of Rahu Dasa. it is like doing a new business or taking a new line of business, or a transfer to a foreign land or starting a new line of manufacturing. Some foreign element also enters the life of the native at the start of Rahu Dasa.
Rahu gives excellent benefits when placed in 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 78th, 10th, 11th positions in a native’s horoscope. Why because these houses are related to worldly pleasures/gains. 2nd house deals with money. When Rahu is placed here, he gives substantial monetary gains during his Dasa. 3rd house relates to communication and it is one of the Upachaya (Growth) houses along with 6th,10th, and 11th. And hence native make gains through communication in Rahu Maha Dasa when placed in 3rd. When placed in 6th, Rahu gives victory over enemies and monetary gains due to enemies. Rahu also gives a good title during his Maha Dasa when placed in 6th like Superstar title for people working in Cine Field, Business Magnet title for business people etc. When in 10th, Rahu gives excellent fame to the natives in his Maha Dasa. Natives gain good name during such Dasa. The 11th house is the best placement for Rahu as Rahu likes both 11th and 2nd house placements. From 2nd and 11th only, once income/gains are determined. Rahu gives excellent results in 11th house. Also, the placement of Rahu House Lord, Rahu Nakshatra Lord and their placements in Rashi Chart determine the overall result of the Rahu Dasa. Whether these lords are yoga karaka or not also to be seen. Rahu does well In Fixed Signs and Earth, Airy and Fiery signs. Especially in earthly signs of Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn - Rahu gives very good results. In watery signs of Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces, Rahu gets weekend and cannot give the best results. Especially in Scorpio, Rahu gets debilitation and hence becomes very weak to give good results. Natives with such placement will be emotional and take everything to their heart. However, if the Scorpio lord Mars is well placed in Exaltation or Own House, then there is a possibility for good results.
Overall, Rahu gives good results when placed well. He gives name, fame, money and worldly pleasures. When he is weak and lacking strength, Rahu gives trouble and creates an illusion that something may happen to the natives. When placed in 8th or 12th house, fears of death, diseases will be felt by native including suicidal tendencies during a weak Rahu Maha Dasa. When Rahu is in conjunction with a malefic like Mars, the native will encounter accidents, surgeries. In conjunction with Sun, Rahu gives troubles. In conjunction with Saturn, Rahu is comfortable. Even when well placed, Rahu gives good results only after troubles and hardships. For good results in Rahu Dasa, the native should perform Abhishekam for Lord Shiva and should pray Durga Devi.
