Dear sri Rahul Deshpande ji, this is my sincere openion that I am 77 now and I have been a lover of both hindustani and karnatik music, and heard great voices. One day recently I am in U S sitting listening Ustad Rashid Khan Sahab's songs. And suddenly a song "Ud Jayega Hans Akela" from Sri Kumar Gandharv ji has started and a great revolution started in me and I heard so many songs and I became mad of his songs. This is amazing song, at some places I can feel Kumar ji is scolding at ignoring Amrita and chasing 'vishaya' ; I wonder what 'rasa' is that. It is so much more than just singing or music as I or others have commonly known; or may be what he and singers like him presented is the real music and those who think music is about entertaining and about feeling good, ie considers it as vishaya have no idea about what real music is. 'Ud jayega hans akela' is the first song of Kumar Gandharva that I heard, and I did not even know anything about him. I was totally blown away and become obsessed with it.
