one more thing to note about "prey" mechanics to add to his explanation: In certain fights, you will get these prey markers BUT you will be able to "slip" them into someone else. This is noted in-game as "Slippery Prey" and it means that you have given someone the "Prey" marker and are unable to take it back. Some notable fights that used this is the five headed dragon from WoD, where the big fireflies will have a tether noted as "prey" that you will need to give to any other player to not die. demon chadarnook has a "slippery prey" mechanic where the goddess will give a random dps or healer a tankbuster prey called "last kiss" that needs to be given to a tank. passing both of these mechanics grant you "slippery prey".

A funny thing about Enumeration. In the Aetherochemical Research Facility (lvl60 MSQ dungeon), the second boss does an Enumeration for 2 players called Ballistic Missile that does big damage and stun if you fail it. I've never seen anyone actually move in to help with the Enumeration in this or A6N. In fact, I've seen the opposite where people will either move away, usually when I'm the one with the Enumeration trying to actually do the mechanic, or the person with the Enumeration will run from the other players, which I saw once in A6N.

I actually did t8 in coils synced before doing that dungeon so when i saw ballistic missile i immediately knew what was up. Was actually worried it would kill the player if failed like in coils, but of course it's an MSQ dungeon so it won't be that punishing.

Worth noting for stillness that you stop autoattacks if you sheathe your weapon, that way you can keep the boss in target without worrying.

For Heartless Archangel at least, I know for absolute sure that it does damage and doesn't just set HP to 1. I know this because when my static were progging it it mysteriously killed our Warrior a couple times before we figured out it snapshotted their HP while in Deliverance, but they dropped it before the hit, which proceeded to kill them due to the higher HP snapshot.

Kind of. It’s a mechanic that reduces HP to 1 but it is calculated as: Dmg = MAX HP - 1. If you increase MAX HP during the cast, it will remember that. When your MAX HP drops, and before the mechanic goes off, you die because MAX HP at cast > MAX HP on hit.

Nah it doesn't do do damage. Think of it as subtracting you hp. I know it sounds similar but if it did damage it would break shields and it doesn't. It killed you war because it snapshots their hp like you mentioned. That's not damage. It's subtracting from your max hp at the snapshot. Similar thing happened in o4 enrage sequence when bards could kill party members on accident with raid buff increasing their hp and falling off

It’s like 1000 needles. It’s still damage but it’s fixed damage. This is not a new mechanic in the final fantasy series.

Helped a lot. Have you considered doing anything like coaching? ie: watching a vod of a Savage/Ultimate kill and coaching through it. Seeing something like that would help grasp mechanics and niche things better.

I am such a stubborn player. I started playing in Shadowbringers, but started raiding as soon as I hit lv 50. So as I did older expansion content with friends we came up with our own vocabulary. Then we hit current content and need to relearn what we call many mechanics. I hate it. Haircut, dynamo, and chariot seem to annoy me the most lol

Mindjack (or hysteria, same thing) makes you walk in all kinds of directions, with multiple changes of direction during the debuff. Forced march only makes you walk in a set direction for a set distance.

I love how people say the ff 14 community is so welcoming, but everytime i go up against a new boss with special mechanics that they expect you to just know, i get yelled at and called names in party chat lmfao. How the hell am i suppose to know what side of the place im suppose to be on based on what creacent moon is above my head? And they expect me to just KNOW THAT?
