Loved the different forms the missions took, even if it took me ages to work out how to get the planes out of the hanger. The last two stages at the command centre were the best. You could actually destroy the tank by letting the top turrets of the building fall on it when you shot it. Nice touch in the final level, having the bloke jump up and down when you scored a hit on the robot. And seeing the win screen for the first time, you felt that it really had been heavy fighting.

Mad skills, literally! When I was a kid I managed to make it to the part where you are throwing the discs, but never passed it. Thanks for making this video!

I grew up in the communist Czechoslovakia. My parents bought ZX spectrum in 1987 when I was 11. I remember we spent so much time playing this game with my school friends!!! It felt so exciting, 'illegal' and conspiratorial to bomb commies in Moscow:):):)

I used to go around to my aunts and uncles or play this on their Commodore 64. Beautiful game. Loved it. 6 months later I got a zx spectrum+ for Christmas and it was awesome. Looked around all the shops but I couldn’t find this game. I’m glad now. Because the graphics are a let down compared to the commodore. 🤷🏼‍♂️

The worst was the hangar leaving stage... how many times I crashed all the planes there. Or left it back end first. But I loved the Kremlin (actually State Historical museum) bombing stage, especially when the tower tip fell down on a tank.

Playing this game as a child in a country behind the iron curtain I could not understand why would anyone ever want to do a raid over our friendly folks Russians ? Apparently I was kinda indoctrinated and I did not quite get the concept of cold war back then.

How did you get a Speccy in the other side of the Iron Curtain? My grandma's neighbors in Czech Republic had one in the 80's, and it was sent to them from West Germany. Did you get yours in your country or was it sent to you from the West?

Nah, it was not available in Poland, my father worked at University and somehow managed to get one from the UK for "research purposes", hehe. I guess I was lucky.

Interestingly, I was quite indoctrinated as well as a child in the late 80's, but I actually couldn't understand, why if the USSR is officially supposed to be our "best friend and brother", everyone including some communists actually despised Russians :D I didn't know anything about that mysterious year "1968" that noone wanted to talk about but somehow it got always mentioned indirectly. And I loved this game and my dad, former communist, loved it as well. I had such a strange feeling of "doing something forbidden" when playing it. Even though I played it for the first time a year after the fall of communism.

Brilliant game, except for the hangar bit of course. I always thought 08:10 was St Basil's Cathedral not the Kremlin. I remember thinking why attacking the Cathedral, and never understood what 10:40 was all about with the discs.

It's a shame the graphics aren't better in this version. The spectrum can do better. The c64 rules this game.

When the impact timer runs down to zero, the soviet missiles destroy a US city, then your score resets to zero. If all 8 US cities destroyed by soviet missiles, the game is over.
