I’m so happy the Falcons took Penix. I liked him as a player, but I like Bowers much more because he could possibly be the best TE in the league. That is special for that position. Creates havoc on a defense!

​@yourstrulyy504 it would have been stupid to move up. To move up for JD, it would've cost a fortune and I'm really happy they did not do that. When it comes to Penix, nobody predicted he would get picked up before the raiders pick so moving up for him didn't make sense either. At the end of the day, we just didn't have the opportunity to get a QB so we took the best player available.

I've been a Raider fan for 51 years, and one thing I like about our GM and AP, and the whole front office, is that they don't seem to panic, that showed in the draft, they didn't sell the farm to go get a QB, it was best player available. I feel big things are coming for Raider Nation 👊😎

Cuz the kid has been a beast in the best program in the SEC for the past 3 seasons. 6 Qbs were off the board 5 of which were decent for 1 season running a college offense. Penix would have been a mid to late second rounder in most other draft years, Telesco specified beforehand he and his team navigate the draft process thoroughly and consider things like where certain players would fall in other drafts where there aren't so many teams in major need of a position.

@@shawnjohnson6112 they made it extremely clear ahead of time that there was money they were willing to pay him and money they were never going to pay for any QB given the fact that JJs contract is coming up. if Kirk was going to force their hand to decide between one of the two, they would always choose Jefferson. the price tag on the contract Atlanta offered him was never going to be matched, everyone involved knew that including Minnesota. If Kirk really took a trip to Atlanta ahead of the FA period, Vikings staff were 100% aware of it and could have said something. they chose not to because they knew it wouldn't matter. whether Atlanta offers him the contract 5 minutes into FA or 5 days in, Minnesota never matches it so any punishment in this case is purely symbolic.

With all due respect to the great Madden but he literally juggled three QBs for a couple years before Stabler became the full time starter in '73. Before that, you'd see Lamonica, Blanda and Stabler and sometimes in one game. Raiders are starting O'Connell and the team is too talented to be last place behind the hapless broncos and the chargers who just got rid of a lot of their own talent.
