Raiders of the lost truck : A Disneyland "Secret" hiding in plain sight! Indiana Jones Movie Props

There's no sign, there's no plaque. Nothing to tell the epic tale of this 1930s Mercedes truck sitting in the queue area of the Indiana Jones adventure in Disneyland. Fortunately Justin Scarred returns to Disneyland in this Randomland to talk about what it actually is, the screen-used truck from Raider's of the lost ark! But it's not just that! An urban legend says there's also a mysterious relic from the temple of doom lurking in plain sight as well. Not sure we can challenge the myth, but let's look at it and see what we can see anyway, shall we?

Correction, Indiana Jones adventure is the third collaboration between Disney And George Lucas. The first two were Captain Eo in Tomorrow Land starring Michael Jackson directed By Francis Ford Coppola. The second Being Star Tours. Both projects debuted in 1986.

That ride used to have a huge ball of fire come right at you as the vehicle stopped at the bridge. Sucks that it is gone. They need to do a makeover of the ride.

The fire still comes at you. You may be remembering it wrong, it was never a "ball" of fire.

Carly L I have ridden this ride about a dozen times since it first came out and something did change at the bridge. Maybe ball of fire is not the best description but they definitely toned it down.

I remember going to the Indy stunt show at Disney World once and walking past the tank from Last Crusade. If Disneyland has the actual vehicle from the truck chase sequence in Raiders and possibly one of the mine carts from Temple of Doom, did Disney World have the actual Last Crusade tank?

I think the ore cart was in Temple of Doom and was probably used as a prop in scenes where they were pushing the rocks around. Not big enough for an adult. I still have one of the translation cards that were handed out when Indy first opened. Stashed it somewhere.

The truck used in the chase scene from the excavation is actually a WWII 2 1/2 ton GMC CCKW-353, with the hood and cab converted to approximate a pre-war Mercedes truck. They also lifted it up and stiffened up the chassis for the chase.... got that for ya of imdb... take care! !

Unfortunately the last time I went to Disneyland was back in March of 1995 (I wanted to go there for my 17th Birthday) shortly after the ride had opened. I remember the pamphlets they handed out and on the back they had Hieroglyphics so you could decode the walls while you waited in line. I had that paper for the longest time because I thought it was the coolest thing to have. Toontown also had opened about the same time if not the year before, so I got to see a lot while it was still fresh. Things sure have gotten crowded since then.

I have a xerox of one from City Hall. They'll still give you a photocopy if people ask, but they should bring back the cards. Genius. I still think of AT&T when I see "choose wisely" anywhere

Brings back so many memory's... I went to the USA twice when I was 15 and 16 with my family and remember standing in line for what seemed like hours to go on that ride. But have to say it was well worth it. I really wish Australia was closer to America lol.

I have a decoder for Marascript that is found throughout the temple and the ride. It's a language that was created by Disney Imagineers when the ride first opened, and they used to hand out decoder cards for guests to use when they were waiting in line. Of course they don't anymore, so I found one online, and I use it whenever I go to Disneyland.

Opening day for media is different than opening day for guests. He is saying on the media day so, unless you are T.V. or paper reporter you wouldn't have been there.

I have always loved any of the cards that come with the rides - I'm totally a nerd and when the "new" Autopia opened I went through the ride enough times to collect every one of the driver's liscenses - I think they are in the same box with 100+ IJ cards (I went on that ride WAY too many times in a row! Still love it every time!) Your videos make living 700 miles from Anaheim bearable! I still miss the park, next time I'm in town, we need to coordinate and go together!

I saw an orange cat sleeping under that truck once, and thought that was random as #$%& to put a realistic looking cat right there. But I only saw it there once, and was like "Huh, that's weird. It's almost as though that could have been a real cat." Assuming that wasn't the case, it had me really puzzled. Until I read from several different sources that Disneyland has wild cats living in the park which keeps the restaurants from having rodent infestations. So through the process of deduction, I realized that it was in fact a real cat! Sleeping in the Indiana Jones que with countless people all around. Cats are funny :P

what about the pole on the inside and I also wonder if you can get one of those panflits has a secret thing from the charters.plus sometime asking staff for them to show you some secrets like at the haunted mansion you could ask to see the secret grave yard and the old abound stuff is still there and you can see raments of what was one part a ride.like there props would still be where it was or on others or sometimes movements of old bits of a ride.
