It’s important to remember, AP chose Getsy while Turner was already on staff, Minshew over AOC, and did not play McCormick until there were no other options. One bad choice after another, it sounds like there are a dozen reasons to fire AP and only 2 in favor of keeping him; 1. The players are still playing hard 2. Don’t want to make another change.

Real talk gentleman. Good to see there is still some in Raider Nation that have common sense still. Some of these comments just make you roll your eyes that they believe the 💩 they’re writing. The team has done a decent job of drafting young players the last couple/few years now on both sides of the ball. The next step in the development of this team starts & ends with a young franchise quarterback moving forward to pair with all the youth on offence to develop and grow together with imo. 🏈🏴‍☠️

The thing with AP he is a RAH RAH head coach…unless you as a head coach can identify good subordinate position coaches to supplement that with good Xs and Os. The RAH RAH HC screaming Raiders and smoking cigars in the locker room only carries so far…. Eventually you (coaches like AP) get exposed and out coached by rival coaches as time goes on. I know AP has his supporters, and I was one of them but unfortunately it’s just not working! IMO, it’s time to pivot and go after a guy like Ben Johnson or similar type of offensive minded guy. Just as like as they aren’t an arrogant type like a Josh “know it all” McDaniels!

He's a "CEO" coach and he's really bad at being a CEO. If you're a coach who doesn't call plays...you better be a DAMN good CEO. Judging by him coaching staff hires, he's anything but. Dan Campbell and John Harbaugh are the prime examples of the CEO coach who knows how to build a staff and get a team to play hard.

I liked the AP hire, but I have to agree with you that they need to move on. I just have a sneaky suspicion he'll be given 1 more year. He hasn't lost the locker room, and the injuries were a lot for a young/1st time HC. I'm not making excuses for him, but I feel like that will be what saves him if he does stay (right or wrong).

The way to get a franchise anything is to loose in modern football. The QB pool is drying up with too many maybes coming out of college, so what is a legitimate plan to get a qb of the future if you don’t have a high draft pick? This is a different season if the coaching staff, GM and owner are on the same page. AP understood the assignment and tried to hire experience to make up for his shortcomings if the GM isn’t with it how do you expect him to succeed?

I guess the only real question regarding keeping AP or not… is 2-3 wins acceptable at any point in the organization? If a HC wins 5, 6, 7 games and shows some improvement throughout the year then yes, it can take time, but this team has regressed and is still not doing the littlest things right.

I was supportive of the AP hire and have supported him all year. A lot of the criticisms of his press conferences are really needling him over disingenuous interpretations. However, the tanking of Davante’s trade value by playing twitter games was a huge issue. If he didn’t know not to make a “joke” about playing for the number one draft pick in a conversation with a professional sports media icon…he’s gotta go. That’s just crazy. Those mistakes can cost you far more than a few football games. Add the on field miscues and it’s hard to defend him. None of that has anything to do with the record or the groceries he was given. Those are his choices.

Not on dope but Sanders or Ward should not be drafted in the first round. Just because you draft a QB in the first round doesn't make them first round talents. Neither have 1st round traits. In any other draft they would be looked at as mid second round prospects. Hunter is a difference maker, you sound like the type of person who wanted to pass on Brock Bowers because we drafted Mayer the year before. Or a couple of year ago wanting to draft Malik Willis and Desmond Ritter in the first round. Both are similar prospects to Ward and Sanders

Don't limit yourself in your thinking that a franchise QB is found with the #1 draft pick or even first round picks. History shows us that franchise QB's can be found in any round of the draft. You just have to identify who your guy is. There are way more first round QB draft busts than there are successes. The numbers don't lie. The only QB the Raiders drafted that took them to the SB was Ken Stabler. We've had better luck with journey man vets.

Would you value JJ McCarthy more than Shedeur or Cam Ward? Because if you do, with Sam Darnold playing lights out for the Vikings, I wonder if the Raiders could pick up JJ McCarthy for a second round pick, trade down from number one and get some blue chip linemen? Or Hunter / Jeanty and someone else... 🤔

@@SIlverBlackToday I dunno - what if you don't extend Darnold after being succesful with him. He's a fomer 1st-round pick, only 27 and they might be able to extend him for relatively little. I'm just saying: It wouldn't hurt for Tom Telesco to make a call, ask how the rehab is going, and casually see what they want for him, especially if he was high on his draftboard last year. ;) I guess what I'm saying, is that Shedeur or Cam in my opinion are reaches with the no. 1 or 2 pick in the draft and this may be a way of getting better value.

I think you guys entirely missed the fact that the run game got better by subtracting James from the line up. You talked about maintaining the standards... We should think of McCormick as a practice squad guy that can make a few runs if you're in a pinch with injuries, especially considering he doesn't do well at all in pass pro. It's one of the biggest things the Raiders have missed since allowing Jacobs to walk. As for AP, he's a rookie head coach, rookies always make mistakes, fans should expect it. Jerry Rice dropped a ton of passes his rookie year. Peyton Manning threw more INT's than anyone in the history of the league. The Raiders can't afford to keep firing coaches every F-ing year. People act like AP ruined a superbowl caliber team. The Raiders have been bad for 25 years, it's going to take a few years for one coach to build the team to their specifications. Minshew was the best QB on the roster coming into the season which meant they were going to lose - Mahomes and Herbert are in the division, Allen, Jackson, Burrow and Stroud are in the conference.
@SIlverBlackToday
@SIlverBlackToday Ай бұрын
You make some great points...thanks for the comment. Yet, you are overlooking and glossing over the utter failure of AP on almost every level. The game management, time management, inability to keep drama to a minimum and not even coming close to his promise on the identity of what his team would be. As we say over and over again...we're not saying he's a failure due to the W/L record. We also have been consistent since LAST SUMMER saying a rookie coach will make mistakes and it's to be expected. But the AMOUNT and FREQUENCY of those mistakes has never improved over the course of the entire season. Through 25 games, he has the same record as Josh McDaniels. Yes, you want stability but you DON'T keep a coach that is clearly overmatched and not capable of doing the job because you don't want to change. That's the definition of insanity. Thanks for watching.

@@SIlverBlackToday It all makes for great debate doesn't it?! A new rookie head coach means another year of rookie mistakes from a head coach and another reset on bringing the type of players in that fit yet another system. Personally, I think AP needs to stop listening to all the former failed head coaches he brought in and trust his instincts. I would expect him to have learned from his mistakes this year going into next season. The players play hard for this coach, fans should stop being short sighted because the results aren't immediate. Let's go ahead and fire the next coach for his rookie mistakes too and start over again and again.

This is not a good QB class - why on earth would we "have" to use the #1 overall pick on a QB that's worse than McCarthey/Penix/Nix from last season?!? That's just throwing draft capital away. Completely agree that a QB on a rookie deal is invaluable - but you don't have to take one at the top of round 1 - Brock Purdy and Jalen Hurts have been to as many Super Bowls as Joe Burrow, and more than Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson... and every other 1st round QB in the last decade that's not called Mahomes. We just have to draft a good player, we don't have to draft them with our 1st pick if they're not worth it.

They aren’t risking trading down in hopes of losing out on one of the top 2 prospects at that position. Bortles rocketed up the draft in 2014 too when Jacksonville took him ahead of the raiders.
