Just wanted to say thanks so much for giving us these weekly tours of The Trop site. You're my favorite KZbin channel now. Thanks for taking us on a walk around Mirage yesterday, too . Great stuff.

The Oakland media still think the A's aren't moving to Las Vegas. I guess they haven't seen your videos!

Rob from Clearwater FL here. You have definitely become the leading authority on Tropicana demolition coverage. I have some fond memories at the ol Trop . Was there the final weekend and was one of the last few guests out the front doors on the final morning so I appreciate these great shots. That was funny when you came around the fence and the scoop was right there. No one else on KZbin is getting this much so a big thanks!

Amazing videos you post. The casino area and long pavilion buildings must be full of furniture. Because you would think they would of got rid of all the lower buildings to make room for all the debris. Also they should be using the big billboards to advertise their other property's. They probably get a lot of vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

Appears to be a soffit over the windows that have been falling down during demolition. Good work with your videos. Very informative and entertaining. Before the implosion of the towers this fall, ALL the low rise buildings will be completely scrapped away. Essentially what will be imploded is the bare metal frames of the two towers.
@kenelkins17873 ай бұрын
So the implosion is going to look like the removal of the Key Bridge debris from the bow of the Dali, only bigger?
@kennixox2623 ай бұрын
@@kenelkins1787 Perhaps, but seems that is the common way to implode many buildings that are made of steel - strip every thing down the the frame and go from there. In the years I have lived here with hotel demolitions, it is is standard procedure to remove all the smaller structures prior to imploding the towers. What I am surmised at is that in this case, they left some of the furnishings in then hotel rooms and put it out with the rest of the junk. Then again, who would want to sleep on a used "Las Vegas" mattress? YUK!

That's a lot of wasted material. What a shame.

You'd think they'd work from the top down to fore go the stuff going back into the other floors. Lol
@jsnjcnt3 ай бұрын
I think they should have started at the top and worked their way down. Then the debris wouldn't keep getting stuck in the bottom floors, probly would keep the dust down too because it wouldn't blow through the open lower floors. Just a thought. Thank you for your cool videos, this is cool.
@alanalmeida46423 ай бұрын
I've been watching all these and hadn't thought of that. That is a very smart suggestion. You have to wonder why they don't. I would also like to know why it has to be gutted before implosion. Seems like all the older hotels I saw videos of being imploded had all the outer walls intact. Must be now about environmental issues and recycling?

There are vents in the outter walls on the floor that has the soffiting falling down in front of the window. looks like recessed lighting in the soffiting too. The construction looks like it is different on that floor. might have been rooms layed out differently than the others.

You and my cousin Bill are huge Raiders fans. Your videos are awesome. I'm an Over The Road trucker. I started in 1990. So I got drive through Vegas on I-15 in the Spring of 1990 and stopped in. I got to see old Las Vegas Strip. No Luxor, Paris, New York New York, The Strat....etc. No Fremont Experience. Just old Las Vegas. The Tropicana was one of the first Resorts I saw. Stopped in Vegas many times between 1990 and 2008. I won a trip to Vegas in 2019, because of Covid 2020, delayed the trip til July 2021. My first time back since 2008. WOW! Vegas has changed, especially "The Strip". It's sad to see The Tropicana being tore down for a ballpark. Thank you for the updates on once was The Tropicana.

Thanks for keeping us up to date on the Tropicana demolition, my friend! I don't think I ever mentioned that I'm 70 and grew up in the San Francisco Bay area. I was born in Hayward and my parents moved to Concord in 1958 when I was 4. My dad worked for RCA for over 40 years and the RCA shop was on Hagenberger Rd, just down the road from the Coliseum. When I wasn't in school and there was a double header with the A's, I'd hitch a ride with my dad and spend the day at the Coliseum in baseball heaven. Went to many a Raiders games too. The shop would get a call occasionally from Al Davis to fix something, and as a manager, my dad would always go along with the technician to make sure things went right. He had many a conversation with Al, but said he couldn't get used to Al's foul language, lol! I remember watching the "Immaculate Catch" live on TV and my whole family, as Raiders fans could not believe our eyes! We all were devastated, and I swear, I mourned for at least a week. I'm counting the days until I check in at the Flamingo, exactly 11 weeks from yesterday. I'm partial to staying at the classic, original strip hotels, which are quickly dwindling. Keep up the great work!
