Did you see The Innocents? Another one I don't think you did, but you just read the description. It's such a good movie. Intelligent screenplay by Truman Capote, which keeps you guessing as to whether or not the ghosts are real, or merely figments of the Governess's imagination. Absolutely stunning cinematography by renowned British cinematographer Freddie Francis. Deborah Kerr is amazing as the governess.

Don't know if you folks have seen One Cut of the Dead yet, but you MUST. It's not quite what it looks like at first. Cremator is great too, though I don't know if it's "horror" in a conventional sense. The horror in this is something else. There were some really interesting and obscure titles on this list. Given how populist (for want of a better word) lists like this tend to be, I'm surprised to see some fairly obscure titles like Legend of the Mountains and Mother Joan of the Angels on it, and even more surprised by some of the absences. Also it seems to have changed in the last six months...

Okay....Seconds. John Frankenheimer. He directed the original Manchurian Candidate as well as Ronin. Seconds stars a very good Rock Hudson, and your description of the story was pretty accurate. However, while it does have a face/off-like concept, it's not an action film. It is a drama, for the most part - what it really is, is depressing as anything you will ever see. The guy hates his life, the tries a new life, and he can't quite fit in with the younger crowd, and he is filled with regret, and it's just so melancholic - and the last shot is like a punch to the gut. In other words, beware.

Good evening, Raiders I can jokingly suggest to you that because you didn’t “Remember the Alamo,” I will unsubscribe, but the truth is I’m totally addicted to you guys! I recently watched your presentation of the top 100 horror movies as rated by Letterboxd. I am obviously from a very different generation than those who are voting. I just watched “The Wailing,” as the description intrigued me. While I find it rather interesting from a cultural perspective, I simply don’t understand how this movie made the top 100 scariest horror films list, while such iconic nightmare inducing classics as “It,” “Poltergeist,” “Ringu/The Ring,” “The Grudge,” “The Birds,” and neither version of “War of the Worlds,” did not merit inclusion. No “Amityville Horror?” No “The Mist?” No “ReAnimator?” Don’t worry, I ain’t about to shoot the messengers. Any group that thinks “The Exorcist,” is not the scariest movie of all time obviously has no idea what they’re talking about, IMHO! LOL

Maybe an Unpopular opinion but i think that we give older films too much credit. As much as i understand how good and important they were for their time, they are largely hard to watch now that we've advanced so far in terms of film making. I'd argue that most people would rather watch a crappy modern movie over some of the "classics" from the 20s to 60s
@raidersofthelostpodcast_5 ай бұрын
@@zacharywoodford8530 I think it’s actually more interesting to watch older films because of how much harder it was for them to create the art of filmmaking, so it’s more impressive, on top of that, story and writing were also superior
@martinsorenson10553 ай бұрын
What an insipid comment... Most people would rather watch a crappy movie..... LOL. A lot of the older movies might not be as scary as the films of today, but you watch them in order to really appreciate today's horror films. There are some older films that can still give me a chill or creep me out - some are beautiful while being scary at the same time.

I personally think Psycho is highly overrated. It's great and revolutionary but it's not really that interesting of a movie to rewatch once you've seen it and the ending where they explain everything is just forced exposition. I wouldn't even put it in my top 10 Alfred Hitchcock.
