Rail Away: TAIWAN Pinxi-line (Taipei - Yilan / Sandiaoling - Jingtong) - English version

From the metropolis of Taipei in the north of Taiwan this train route leads eastwards over the so-called North-link. When arriving at the east coast, the waves of the Pacific almost reach to the train tracks.The final destination of the first route is Yilan, a city amidst the rice-fields. In Sandiaoling we take the Pinxi-line which takes us to our final destination, the beautiful village of Jingtong.

This engine 3:37 looks familiar... flashback to the late 1970s. The early days of electrification of the rails in Taiwan. I'm surprised engines from that era are still running.

The station name "Sandiaoling" actually come from "Santiago" when Spanish ruled there hundreds year ago
