Rail Baltica | Construction of the Central Station Riga | Latvia | European Mega Project Update

Rail Baltica is a greenfield rail transport infrastructure project with a goal to integrate the Baltic states in the European rail network. Its purpose is to provide passenger and freight service between participating countries and improve rail connections between Central and Northern Europe, specifically the area southeast of the Baltic Sea. Furthermore, it is intended to be a catalyst for building the economic corridor in Northeastern Europe. The project envisages a continuous rail link from Tallinn (Estonia) to Warsaw (Poland), consisting of links via Riga (Latvia), Kaunas, and Vilnius (Lithuania). Its total length in the Baltic States is 870 kilometres , with 213 kilometres in Estonia, 265 kilometres in Latvia, and 392 kilometres in Lithuania. Rail Baltica is one of the priority projects of the European Union (EU). It is part of the North Sea-Baltic Corridor of the Trans-European Transport Networks (TEN-T).

@@emilioe50 you then might be the last one that does not see. The price of this absolutely not profitable project has gone up 6 (six !!!) times, there seems to be accute shortage of money and no hope to solve it. It can be already considered failed. I hope that everyone involved gets a serious punishment.

@@janisvaskevics93 I am not that dumb (not on your level of dumb). Yes, the price is now higher, all construction projects go over the initial price, it’s not a new thing. And yes, there have been some mismanagement, but things can be easily fixed, plus the money issue can be turned around too. If there is a problem, you don’t immediately give up, you find a solution and keep pushing forward. Use your head.
