Token Block Signalling is in use on a branch line on Merseyside. The line is between Kirby (Knowsley) and Rainford (St Helens). Trains between Kirby, Wigan Wallgate or Manchester Victoria or the DB Cargo operated 'binliner' trains from Knowsley Freight Terminal to Wilton (Teeside) must hand back the token once they have cleared the section to make way for the next train.
