When you’re manually setting routes for new trains, you’re not cancelling the default routes that the arrival sensors are putting in. That’s causing a little bit of mayhem and chaos in places, and wrong-routing some later trains! :)
@LokoDennisTR2 жыл бұрын
A little tip. Under the train on your layout, you can see a little arrow, which shows the direction the train is travelling. Very helpful when a train is in a tunnel, as you struggled with when it was routed to the wrong track.

39:38 the intercity train was only expecting to ru at 31 kph, but the track is 80 kph so it arrive at Queen Street early and then had to wait 4 minutes for its scheduled departure time

Some Thoughts of me: 25:45 - You don't need another platform for Intercitys. Most of the times they are just passing meaning they won't stop for a certain time. You have to look at the contract to see if they are just passing or hold for some time. 31:19 - Queen Street Platform 5 -> The train stops for 4:42 min because you upgraded the tracks on the way of this train and through this the trains timetable is expecting the train 3:42 mins later. When you unlock the upgrade for Adjusting the timetable you can set a shorter arrival/depature time and sometimes get more money out of it (if the contract allows this). 33:00 - You set a default platform, so there is no need to route it manually. When you are manually routing the train even there will be an automatic routing, the automatic routing will be queued and set when the track is free again (see the number at a auto signal -> "1" means that one routing is queued, "2" means that two routings are queued, etc). This can create a real mess or (in your case) route a train to the wrong platform (33:27 -> Ashfield). 34:26 - You have to pay attention which contract you are accepting. First: On the left of the train number you see a arrow pointing to the left (thats a one time train -> its not recurring & it will cash out when finished. It has a specific timetable, too. It shows the times as if you would click at that moment on accept.) or an arrow circle (Recurring contracts. First there will be a trial train determine the timetable incl. plattforms. If you accept you can later on adjust the timetable (with the upgrade unlocked) and get more money. For example with the contract at 38:17. Second: For all contracts you need to look at the special condition you need to get (see 38:23 under the money and tokens). There are 2 different things: Target Speed -> The train needs to get to this speed once. Avg. Speed -> The train needs from start to finish a minimum of XX kmph. Keep that in mind. If you have 80 kmph tracks but a train wants a target or average speed of 100 kmph you will never get to 100% cash out. Only if its a recurring train and you later upgrade the tracks to higher speed. 39:38 - Its predictable. Its a one time contract and it shows the times when it wants to be where. As you have fast speed tracks it arrived pretty early even with the bad start. Thats it. Don't get me wrong. I like how Squirrel is showing things and it shows that he has to learn too, which is totally fine. I had to learn it too the hard way. Thanks for showing me this game. :)

On the full hour schedule when you were adjusting arrival and departure platforms, the length of the "blue train" is the length of time it occupies that platform. In theory you could have them much closer together as long as they do not overlap.
@kempo_952 жыл бұрын
Yeah, each blue bar is 3 mins long. 1 min for arriving, 1 min for the scheduled stop, and 1 min for departure. Generally you can overlap the departure minute for the first train, with the arriving minute for the next train. This can be a bit tricky though.

33:20 and 37:40 Be really, really careful about giving manual orders while also having a default platform selected... The default route will still be issued after your manual selection

I think it shouldn't work like that. It's questionable whether that brings frustration or realism...

Tips: freight and intercities don't stop when enter on the map. Putting one of these just one minute before a commuter on the same track will made the entrance track more efficient. The intercity (or freight) enter, let free the platform in a few seconds, then the commuter enter and in the time of it stops the track ahead is clear. Putting an arrival sensor before the auto block allow trains to not slow down at the entrance of the following station. Sometimes is needed a routing sensor on the same block for trains that will not stop for sending them on a passing track (don't put it on auto block, if two trains comes in a few spaces they can confuse the sensors)
@giloforgeham40112 жыл бұрын
Hey Paul, for your arrival and routing sensors: you can put them before the autoblock (tunnels) and use the autosignal from that autoblock. That way you do not need another autosignal behind the exit of an autoblock. For ex: from Queenstreet to Ashfield you can use the autosignal from the first autoblock for your arrival sensor, the train can trigger the signal befor entering the tunnel, that way you have even less complications, more space to build an less signals.

After all that effort to setup for the #219 red @ 36:45, you accidentally end up choosing the #226 which is green so you didn't get the red token you were wanting.

I think that at some point it was already mentioned, but you should keep in mind that, when building a tunnel, you can only use tiles and pathways that you would be able to use for normal tracks, as well. So for example no tunnels crossing those dotted lines, or no loops with more narrow curvatures, etc. You also should consider, that inside a tunnel there is always an unchangeable speedlimit of 40 kph. So best keep those tunnels as short and as scarce as absolutely necessary.
@nightcat54432 жыл бұрын
There are upgrades for the tunnel speeds, and they can be adjusted (change speed) just like any piece of track
@andyberry22 жыл бұрын
For the arrival route into Ashfield, because of your one-way system the arrival sensor could be placed in the tunnel to give you more flexibility with the signal location, because it doesn't interfere with your Ashfield departures there is no major issue having the route/signal set a bit earlier.

38:54: It's a passing train on the first station. It's said right there in the contract. Why accept already? You could accept later. 39:38: It's that long because the train arrived early and it's waiting for its expected arrival time + 1 min stopping time. 40:04: Now it's only passing in other stations. It's right there at the bottom. It's easy to just make a passthrough. 41:00: No dice. You can't see right now but you could see before. It's a passing train. Give it an open platform and it will zoom right past it. That's what you did but still...

Finally reinstalled Rail Routes again, and it was pretty addictive. BTW, you could put routing sensors inside the rail blocks (the long tunnel connections), which helps if you have only 1 connection point. Also, if you plan on doing more intercities, I suggest staggering some of the sensors a bit further back compared to the auto signal if you can since the trains slow down earlier.
@paulgiddy572 жыл бұрын
Having upgraded all tracks to 80 kph all of the existing schedules were set whilst the tracks were 40 kph. But now the trains will arrive at destinations quicker and then sit and wait in the stations for their departure times. Note that the blue bars in the 1 hour view are the scheduled times, nit the times at which they will now arrive on the faster track. If you unlock the ability to adjust train dep/arr times you can fix this. The safest way I have found is to watch the trains closely. As they arrive at the station they will show how long they have before they are allowed to depart. If this is more than two minutes you can adjust the times forward by a minute, ensuring that the departure time is 1 minute after the arrival as that is how long commuter trains require. Doing this slowly and carefully you can greatly improve the efficiency of the network and also increase payout rates.

I found it was useful to have two sets of points with double slip switches on either side of a station. It gives an arrival and departure route from a station allowing trains to pass more easily. The other thing I do is use central platforms as the main line for stations with 4 or more platforms, preceded by a diamond crossing and the double point configuration I described.

That train was stuck in the tunnel as you were reversing into a manual signal you didn't clear. So it was just stopped at the signal. The moment you turned him the wrong way again he had a green auto signal so made it out of the tunnel into cumbernauld.

I don't care how long one time IC trains take to get through my network, if there's one waiting and I have a gap in the arrivals I'll bring it in. It doesn't matter how long you hold them them up, you still get the red token !

21:21 timetable adjustment is not only used to adjust the arrival and departure of the trains, but you can shift the whole train schedule couple of minutes forward or backward, its a good option in case you have conflicting trains in a single track or want to create perfect arrival and departure at the same time. 28:21 also not sure why you wanted to have all stations at Ashfield connected just have 1/2 for out bound i.e upper track and 3/4/5 for inbound i.e lower track and you would be perfectly fine as you don't have enough traffic inbound it also saves the arrival signal problem as for higher speed tracks it would need two space or the trains slow down lowering the value of the contract irrespective of the track speed
@MasterCameago2 жыл бұрын
also to note is that its not necessary to change the arrival and departure if you don't want you can just move complete schedule using the 3 connected dots option shown in the upgrade example.

I think its time to clean up the Bridgerton - Cumbernauld contracts and get high paying ones, also, if you route all bidgerton and easterhouse traffic to cumbernauld 1-2 then you can have through traffic in 3-4 (acting as main line...), i dont think there is a real need for ashfield arrivals to 3 as all arrivals would technically be on 1-2 and departures would be 3-4-5 probably can use 4-5 as departures and 3 as mixed use if needed. Can you actually use tunnels on the map to cut through dotted lines, i was assuming you cant... (simgamesfan)

This was tad to annoying to watch at the end with the last intercity. It seems that the system should do everything else apart from accepting at the first station and maybe the passthrough at Cumbernauld. That's the manual bit, the rest is as he already have programmed if it is running as it should.
