This brings back memories of all the years of standing, waiting, adjusting my schedules for whatever all the time .... just so I could catch the Marta train to most of the places I needed to get too. I did appreciate it, but I think back now all those times I wished I had a car. Especially when trying to get to Lakewood amphitheater at 8 am in the morning so I could go to work during the summer months. Train only got me so close and after two buses to catch afterwards, I still had to walk another mile. Always enjoyed my time at Lakewood Amphitheater, always dreaded that messed up Marta routing I had to endure. I also remember missing the last train one time and spending the night in one of the train stations near Sweet Auburn for like 7 hours waiting for the first train of the morning to get me home.

Shin Akumaforu, It's weird; it's as if you're more likely to get jumped in less dangerous areas than you would presume - I've been to some REALLY shitty areas that are SO bad you would assume to get shot just because of the stigma associated with it yet haven't any issues but once you're walking home in YOUR neighborhood, that's when shit goes down.

To everyone wanting MARTA expansion, don't worry, it will happen. Back when MARTA was founded in the early 1970s, only 21% of Gwinnett County residents wanted it. In the last referendum, it was 46%, meaning support grew by .5% per year. With that formula, MARTA should easily expand into Gwinnett by the end of the 2020s. Remember, only 51% of Fulton County (where most of their stops are) even wanted MARTA originally.

I'm from Atlanta but now I live in Sacramento for 4 years now and I had my very first ride on BART back on April 1, 2015 and let me tell you it reminded me I was reminiscing hard just reflecting back on my experiences riding MARTA growing up. Oh and just a weekend ago I was just on BART at the 12th/Broadway Station headed towards Powell Station for MegaBus. I love BART too 😎

The MARTA trains in Atlanta are quiet impressive and very convenient to ride when the city is in that crazy rush hour. I feel like they need to upgrade their system with additional infill stops or extensions to NE Fulton County, but I highly doubt it to Gwinnett nor Cobb Counties. It’s also my favorite train when the motor accelerate when it leaves the platforms for example 4:04-4:55 BTW: I did a movie tour of Atlanta since it been filming a lot of movies there, one movie that a lot of people realized that was filmed in Atlanta was John Carpenter’s Escape From New York (1981). There’s a deleted scene in that film where Snake Plissken robs the bank and the Ashby and Vine City stations was used for his robbery escape.

I don't work for MARTA, but I am a moderate/frequent passenger of Atlanta's rapid rail system. (it just depends on whether I am trying to get to work, or traveling for miscellaneous reasons.) One explanation that the train's horn was honking consistently, was to alert awaiting passengers that it's not making a stop at that station (or any stations). The reason why they do that is unclear to me at the time. My guess is that those trains could be needing to head to a train yard for repairs, needed as a back up for another train that has broken down from mechanical or electrical issues, or the operator is new at driving the trains and is learning the ropes (or tracks in this case.) of how to operate a MARTA train. I live close by one out of the few (possibly 3) marta's train yards, & have seen empty trains arriving there for necessary repairs, cleaning, periodic maintenance, or it's just not in operation because it's the end of a business day, & the trains don't typically run after 1am. Hopefully that gave you (and others who read this reply) some clearer explanation for the repetitive honking at 3:47

We visited Atlanta A couple of weeks ago and the guy saw I was trying to get a shot of the MARTA trains coming through so the guard guy let me go through the gate and take a overhead shot of the the train passing though the station.

Brett Sennett those trains dont go above 70 mph, they are built to go up to 70 nothing more. If you dont believe me i used to operate them back in 2013 so i know for a fact. They are supposed to go 70 in between buckhead and medical center and 15-25 between avondale and Decatur

Richard Grimes NJ Transit's logo uses the same stripe shape, but in a different color combination (Orange/Purple/Indigo instead of Blue/Yellow/Orange) and flipped backwards. Polaroid's old logo (discontinued in the late 90s) used a block of stripes (Blue/Green/Yellow/Orange/Red) which look similar to the ones in MARTA's logo. Just my thoughts.

Actually, Marta rail does make it out to a few suburbs. Sandy Springs, Doraville, Chamblee, Decatur, Dunwoody. It was originally planned to go much further but those plans were stopped not by Marta itself but by politics. Basically, the powers that be in those further suburbs fought to keep it out.
