The world stands in amazement and salutes those men of steel who had laid those Railroad tracks and built those timeless Tunnels and Railroad Bridges in this harsh but breathtakingly beautiful wilderness !!

Mostly Chinese immigrants. They didn't get the recognition they deserved. They're all probably buried in those rocks with no tombstone.

Thank you, sir, for this magnificent video presentation, the trestles seem to be in a good state, despite some of the being blocked. No doubt the rockfalls and tunnel blockages are due to seismic activity over the years. Thank you for bringing us along, these journeys are most enjoyable and those that you had with you certainly seemed to have had a great time.

A lot of rock slides now, and no railroad maintenance teams anymore to come clear them. I’ve seen them on an old video taking a short train up with an excavator on to clear away the rocks. I hope they don’t close the line to you guys, but seeing the damage to the bridge walkways, it seems like they might, be a real shame! Maybe locals can get a volunteer group up to do some repairs?

12:10 Wow, there's a new rockfall and the second tunnel entrance is now blocked, too. I wonder if a little earth tremor, or the recent monsoons caused these? Please go carefully out here Archie, rockfalls can happen at any time.

Where exactly is this Carrizo Gorge and which railroad company used it? That's a very nice place.
@BillinHungary Жыл бұрын
It was built over a hundred years ago, that is why it is called the "Impossible Railroad'. It travels from San DIego CA, along the border in Mexico, crosses back over near Campo California, and then through the Gorge and hills to reach a main line railroad in the Anza Borrego Desert. The railroad's oroginal name is "San Diego Arizona and Eastern"
@Greatdome99 Жыл бұрын
Southern Pacific bought the San Diego and Arizona Eastern from Sprecles sugar interests and operated it until the 1970s when Kyle Railways took over. Fire on two trestles in the canyon closed the line for good in 1983.
