Thanks for sharing this. Used to watch the trains when I lived in Proctor many moons ago. Still have family in Proctor & Hermantown. Kind of place that gets stuck in your mind. Regret leaving

I’ve always thought these SD40-3 rebuilds have to be one of the most successful upgrades ever done on locomotives. After CN took over, the word was those engines were gone and old SD40’s and GE’s could do the same job. Even today the Dash-3’s are still at it and they look like they’ll last forever.

What a great video! You went to all my favorite places that I go to when I"m up there from Minneapolis for a day. The sound on this video is excellent on my good pair of speakers.

Apparently these old EMDs are being stored in favor of the mighty Dash 8s. Hopefully those big ol’ Dash 8s can handle that job without breaking down every day.

Anyone else miss the US Steel owned DM&IR? I like this video, but it seems out of place with the CN!

Why does it say DMIR on it is t DMIR out of service
@andysylvester25665 жыл бұрын
Crazy Kaboose cause it has too. It’s pretty much the VIN of the engine, no matter if the company sold out or not....for record keeping
@B52Stratofortress13 жыл бұрын
Not precisely. CN never bothered renumbering the DMIR fleet, even though they painted them. The DMIR reporting mark is owned by CN, so this is not an issue. As far as I know CN is the only railroad to not renumber locomotives when they acquire a railroad.

Why would anyone in there right mind sell the most profitable RR in the country to a Canadian RR? DMIR never had to run looser passenger trains, etc! Commmnnnoonn tell me! I read frank Kings book years ago, live here “north of hy 2, and cannot figure it out. “

Taconite loads down to the dock, empties back up the hill. Throw a stone train in once a day or so. Conveyor belt railroading in a beautiful setting. If you like lakers it's more than likely you can catch one in the harbor.

Gross where did CN get those horns?Texas light rail?My gosh they're horrifying.
