Hi, I wanted to ask about the laser diode driver you made a while back. Is it possible to use an NPN transistor instead, but flip the positions of the components of the circuit upside down? i.e. 220 ohm swaps places with laser diode, zener diode swaps places with 1k resistor?

Oh man... is that the LT3751 capacitor charger?? That thing caused me more headaches than literally any other chip I've ever used. Took me 2 years of trial and error and in the end it didn't even charge very fast.

It is actually the LT3750 - the "simpler" version of the LT3751. I got it to work the very first time, fortunately. I just copied the circuit and the PCB layout from the datasheet. I was not very impressed with the charging times either, I've come up with a workaround that I'll show in coming videos. Basically reducing the turns ratio and primary inductance to the bare minimum needed.
