Thank you for having me on Rail Natter, Gareth! I had a great time. If anyone has any questions or any clarifications are needed, do feel free to ask me.

It's a great episode of RailNatter. So good to see the Green cause linked so specifically with rail. In my opinion there's a wide disconnect between people's perception of "the environment" (their supposed care for it) and of their car use, not really seen as particularly damaging. Widely people rage at the idea of new pylons in rural Scotland to bring green electricity from offshore wind, which they are perceiving from their larger than necessary cars, yet new roads are welcomed (like the crazily oversized Aberdeen bypass). Drivers roar about, anyone going less than about 50mph is tailgated; cycling at my peril I see horrendous amounts of the immediate victims of our "right to freedom", the poor animals referred to as "roadkill". They're not killed by roads, they're killed by people, driving too fast. Obviously many journeys can't be done by public transport, but where there are services, few car drivers use them.

I cannot possibly overstate how much damage Green’s original policy did to the HS2 discourse as recognised thought leaders, particularly in giving the Conservative and other (arguably) bad faith actors the ability to cite an authority in the field to justify their positions. I really welcome E01 and I’m so so grateful for the work people put into this.

Yep - and it just goes to show that, although democracy takes a lot of time, it does eventually win thru... Fast solutions often have bad endings.

HS2 and the general opposition to things just because they involved building something was a big sticking point for me but I still ticked the Green box in my strawberry flavour conservative safe seat. I'm very glad to see the party's official position change on the subject, another positive step away from complaining and towards getting stuff done.

The greens in Nottingham opposed the extension of the Nottingham tram (phase 2) through the whole project. Was just an odd position for them to take

I think Emma should add 'Official Greens4HS2 lore master' to her list of responsibilities, based on her inducting new members into all the in-jokes

You can't ingratiate people you can only ingratiate yourself. Maybe learn English eh?
