Thanks! It's an Athearn Genesis ES44AC that has been slightly modified and detailed to match the prototype. It runs rather well.

What speaker are you using?

4x sugar cube speakers in styrene boxes I made. I believe they were 13x18mm or something like that. Wired in series-parallel, two up front and two in the back. In person the four speaker set up has an excellent amount of "depth" to it....very noticeable when placed next to a two-speaker set up. Not every locomotive has room for it though.

Wow I'm surprised you could get 4 in it. I wish the system volume was a little louder as my RP gets drowned out by other companies while operating on my club layout.

I have mine turned down quite a ways. This locomotive normally runs at 30% overall volume, and 30% on prime mover. I turned up master volume to 60% for the video because the mic needs it to be loud to pick up well. With four speakers it can be quite loud. All the sound I've heard from club layouts and such is obnoxious. They are so loud and tinny that I get a headache within a few minutes. And the constant drone and looping sound files get on my nerves. My rule of thumb is that I shouldn't hear the prime mover from 10 feet away. My horn sounds are adjusted so that they can clearly be heard from 15 feet away. Too often I see videos of people running sound locomotives where all you can hear is the prime mover at full volume and you can't make out the horn at all. On the prototype you can't hear the prime mover until the train is very close, but the horn can be heard from a very long distance.

@@freewake84 Amen to this Sir! I have the same rules as yourself when it comes to volume levels! The noise from most club ( and private) layouts is crazy and as you say PM volumes are actually not that loud in the prototype . I usually have a loco idling in the yard and I should not be able to hear it over another one at the other end of the yard about 4m away (12 feet) . I preach this in a lot of my videos so it's refreshing to hear someone on the same page. Nice work on the Dash 9 too! Cheers, Gregg.
