The 148 & 149 are frequently so long...I have a feeling it'll only be a matter of time before they start running x148s and x149s frequently, or add 2nd stackers running daily to and from Chicago...

What is the "Ingersoll Hump". and why is it a big deal?
@railpast6 жыл бұрын
Before the use of auto racks the track was much lower but those 100 foot cars were almost hitting the bridge and a real danger to anybody hanging off a car. The solution was to raise the track by putting in another layer of ties and raising it higher. Crews still climb up two or three steps to prevent being scrapped off as they go over the bridge. The Ingersoll Hump was born. You can see it here as a GMD1 climbs over it. railfan.thegrebs.com/var/albums/Railpast-Photos/CN/CN1422_003.jpg?m=1360594683
