Now this is a good line to take a look at if you like a good amount of great crossing equipment. Love the bell combo at 47:37. Great video.

I am glad to see so many of the mechanical bells. Not a big fan of the electric bells. Also, some of the rail lines pass literally right by houses. I couldn't imagine living that close to active tracks!

During my "growing up" years, I lived next to an active railroad line in Baton Rouge, LA. There was no grade crossing nearby, so we were spared the direct brunt of the train horn; but the rumble of the locomotives and railcars shook the house! I loved it; spent my summers waiting for and watching trains. Alot of these trains in the video are particularly slow; I prefer fast trains! Also, I prefer crossing signals where the bells continue to ring after the gates come down, and throughout the duration of the passing train.

Why Do NS Crossing Bells Stop Ringing when then gates are lowered????
@CrazyMarioRailfan21056 ай бұрын
NS made the bell mechanism stop ringing once it has been lowered. Some crossing bells ring when they go up. I have tracks in my back yard. And A crossing X.

You know as a engineer of 38 years now I feel bad when I have to go thro areas were people houses are right there at the crossing I feel so bad having to wake people up at we hours of the morning and night and not that I don't like these types of videos but I mean what so fascinating about railroad crossing? Lol i mean they all the same lol I mean they all have flashing red lights and a lound bell sometimes I get annoyed with it lmao just kidding the sound of the bell at the crossing and train horn makes me look forward to sitting In that cab and making sure my passengers are having a good time I've also done fright trains to but I like driving passenger trains better

What is that first locomotive?! An SD40T? -2 maybe?
@kevinbaker42416 жыл бұрын
Yes, 5413 is an SD40T-2 'Tunnel Motor'. Rio Grande bought 73 of them (5341-5413) during the 70s, and one of them (5371) survived on Union Pacific in un-patched D&RGW paint until 2008! (UP did the smart thing with the 5371 and donated it to a museum in Utah rather than just scrap it.) Wheeling & Lake Erie has a second Rio Grande SD40T-2, 5391, on its roster, and I see them regularly passing through Creston and Smithville, Ohio, near my hometown of Wooster.
