I couldn't help but notice @ 1:19-1:25 That layout of track as the driver sees it a tight Right-Left turn when there seems to be plenty of land to install a Large Y Point which reduce tension & possible derailment zone on the train! As always Great Work, Well Done! 10/10
@mbmars01
@mbmars01 8 жыл бұрын
+TheAudiostud Many thanks. I have no idea when the original layout was built, but the tight turns reduce the speed, for sure. Macon has a very long railroad history, especially in the industrial area. Maybe, the layout is simply outdated.
@reganrickson795
@reganrickson795 8 жыл бұрын
+TheAudiostud Brosnan Yard was built after the Southern took over the Central of Georgia in 1963, and miles of trackage were built or relocated going into the yard. Train speeds were probably slower and trains shorter back then, not to mention capital being more scarce.

@mbmars01
@mbmars01 4 жыл бұрын
Many thanks! Yes, there's software that can be used to estimate the power needed. However, it's a complex problem that requires the consideration of numerous factors such as landscape, number and location of loaded and empty cars, etc.
@geoben1810
@geoben1810 4 жыл бұрын
@@mbmars01 Right but I imagine the software takes all that into account. It would just be a matter of punching the numbers into the formula. The software takes care of the operation. You just have to make sure your numbers are right.

I counted at least 9 power units on the first train; that was over kill unless they were moving them to some other place or a very long heavy train. I notice at the start of the video looke like a lot of heat waves in the picture was it a very hot day when this one was made? Those BNSF units was a long way from home. Are all tanker care made to the same specs? this was one very clear and outstanding viedo. Thanks for it.

Hi there, do you know what 733 was doing coming down into Macon, or is that normal (I gues to get the train turned around and head back north)? I just assumed he would just depart back north out of the plant when he was done. Any insights? Love the videos, thanks for posting them, I'm from Macon, it's great to see the action back in the home town.

+charlesdotcc That's right, 733 normally goes back in northern direction, but sometimes they reroute these trains and send them back on the Albany District southwest of Macon for whatever reason. Many thanks, I always enjoy my visits to Macon and surroundings.

Great videos! I'm wondering how you get so close and on their property...Do you work for them or retired from NS or another RR? Most fans can't get the stuff you do.

Thanks. No, it's all filmed from public ground. Of course, one has to find these spots, which is sometimes not easy, but I do not trespass. To be able to "look into" a yard, I deliberately bought a camcorder with extreme zoom capabilities.
