I couldn't help but notice @ 1:19-1:25 That layout of track as the driver sees it a tight Right-Left turn when there seems to be plenty of land to install a Large Y Point which reduce tension & possible derailment zone on the train! As always Great Work, Well Done! 10/10
@mbmars018 жыл бұрын
+TheAudiostud Many thanks. I have no idea when the original layout was built, but the tight turns reduce the speed, for sure. Macon has a very long railroad history, especially in the industrial area. Maybe, the layout is simply outdated.
@reganrickson7958 жыл бұрын
+TheAudiostud Brosnan Yard was built after the Southern took over the Central of Georgia in 1963, and miles of trackage were built or relocated going into the yard. Train speeds were probably slower and trains shorter back then, not to mention capital being more scarce.

I have very little knowledge about Trains but enjoy the videos..My Q..is there a formula for how many engines would be needed for the weight being pulled.?
@mbmars014 жыл бұрын
Many thanks! Yes, there's software that can be used to estimate the power needed. However, it's a complex problem that requires the consideration of numerous factors such as landscape, number and location of loaded and empty cars, etc.
@geoben18104 жыл бұрын
@@mbmars01 Right but I imagine the software takes all that into account. It would just be a matter of punching the numbers into the formula. The software takes care of the operation. You just have to make sure your numbers are right.

@mbmars014 жыл бұрын
There are various frequencies in the Macon area that are interesting to monitor. I generally recommend to run the scanner in scan mode and take note of the railroad frequencies it catches. Then program your scanner using these frequencies.

I counted at least 9 power units on the first train; that was over kill unless they were moving them to some other place or a very long heavy train. I notice at the start of the video looke like a lot of heat waves in the picture was it a very hot day when this one was made? Those BNSF units was a long way from home. Are all tanker care made to the same specs? this was one very clear and outstanding viedo. Thanks for it.
