Wow, all the times I've been to or near Wilkes-Barre and I never once knew this was there. Kicking myself, now! Fantastic, informative video!

It was pretty cool. There are still a few finds in W-B but nothing like this. Thank you for watching!

Miss the Banana Joe’s nightclub days. Was cool how the rail cars added to the real estate square footage.

It was a neat place. Now set to become the Planters Peanut museum.

I think the station was again restored and is now visitors center. But yeah. Wilkes Barre is $hit Hole.

Yes, the restoration is finally proceeding. Good news!

hello and thanks, Robert for posting this interesting place in W.B..... as small cities go, so goes their history.... if the city is well managed and attracting investors, then the station will once again be rescued, more than likely..... if the city is not managed well, then the station may go..... hoping for the former and not the later.... any forward thinkers out there with business acumen and deep pockets?

Hopefully the Planters Peanut museum will be the saving grace for the station. We shall see.

I live around here and always wondered what it was because its the only really really old looking thing around it

It used to be an area filled with train tracks. There were 3 different passenger stations and 5 different railroads in that one area. It’s almost all gone.

Does anyone remember the dining car attached to Joe Palooka's Diner? Great french fries with gravy. So sorry to see it go. It might have been a part of an Amtrak train at one time . I can remember the blue and red stripes down the sides between the windows. Now almost all gone but the memories.

it’s in the video, shown after the diner was moved

Other than this one, how many other train stations are left in the Wyoming Valley? I know of only two, both on the D.L.&W. Bloomsburg line. The West Nanticoke Station is now a tattoo shop and the Hunlock creek Station is abandoned and in sorry shape. Any others left? They once dotted the landscape like dandelions.

I think that may be it. There are a few just outside the valley (like the LV at Bear Creek). Maybe the Laurel Line freight depot in Pittston? I think that's still there.
@Maurice00PA4 жыл бұрын
@@RobertJohnDavis I forgot about the Laurel Line Freight depot in Pittston but didn't know the Bear Creek Station still exists.

A little black cloud hangs over that property . . .
