Thanks Zee, now I got it! From time to time I listen to the DT podcasts. I always wondered about that designer Roland Wright, since I had never seen one of his games. Yet he seemed to have great influence over certain boardgame genres and must have designed at least several dozens of succesful games. Roland Wright, sharing the fame with Reiner Knizia, Alan R. Moon, Bruno Faidutti? Did he even own a label bearing his name? My illusion ended when I watched this video and Roland vanished forever. It's been "ROLL AND WRITE" games all the time! . :-o (Muhahahahahar)

This game is incredibly relaxing to play, and I've had autistic friends who've played it who have said this really clicks well with neuro-atypical individuals.

What’s better Zee, this or Karuba? As many have said, hard not to draw comparisons.

As far as game length goes, it's always one turn shorter than you needed it to be.

Zee, I love your TARGET system, definitely don't get rid of it, but please include some kind of "general score". A numerical score would work best just to see how much you like it in comparison to other games. I say this because it's very strange to me that this game has a + on all but one category of your TARGET system, and that one other is neutral, but still the game only got a Seal of Approval? There's definitely something there that is not being communicated by the TARGET system.

You forgot 2 things in the rules. You can only use 3 specials in the whole game and there are 7 rounds. Also the Overpasses, they are 2 separate pathways, they don't connect, thats why there is a special of it that is a 4 way and all of it connects

How great is Zee at writing numbers upside down.

This was a hot ticket item at Gen Con, but I wasn't able to demo it. Is there much interaction between players? It seems like you're focused on your own board and can totally ignore everyone else, especially with more players.
@Patronux6 жыл бұрын
King Xerocole that's literally how most Roll & Write games are. Just by watching the review you know there's going to be zero interaction between players.
@黃冠閎-n6q6 жыл бұрын
There’s no interaction in this game. Someone roll the dice then everyone draw the icon being rolled on their board. You keep doing it for seven rounds. So you are planning your railroad try to optimize your route.

I was working the booth when this came out (Tall ass woman at the Kick Ass tables) and yeah, even the CMON crew couldn't get enough of this.

I really like this type of game. Dice and puzzle both together. I only play solo though and the usually unavoidable "just beat your high score" element is always a little unsatisfactory. I just watched a SU& SD review on the "Welcome to" Roll and Write game" Think that has, for me, more variability. Off topic completely.....regarding your hat...I am perhaps the only viewer of this who has been beaten up by Vfl Bochum fans. (30 years ago in a "Ruhrpott" derby football match between Bochum and Borussia Dortmund while serving with the British Army in Germany.) How did you come by your hat?? Thanks for your review.

They could have called it Karuba: The Roll and Write.

When I saw Zee drawing on it, I was thinking that there was too much going on and it would work so much better if you could place tiles like in Karuba. At the very least, maybe different colored markers for each feature.

I think it replaces karuba.

I'm still confused about the first score, you got a network of 3 and a network of 4? Wat?

Looked like an ok game until you start adding the variants. I think the variants make it harder, and too weird.

Zee you do a great job, but your reviews are a bit on the long side and your TARGET system is a little cumbersome/mechanical...is there a way to make your reviews more streamlined or bite sized (like Tom’s)? A minor quibble, but worth mentioning since I usually like the games you pick but don’t always have 15 or so minutes to watch a review for a single game. Thanks and keep up the good work!
