Interesting to see this SW 9 painted in Erie Lackawanna colors.

Awesome video, I haven’t done much with the North shore railroad, hope to change that in the near future. This video is a great take on switcher operations.

The whole operation would make a nice layout concept, I think.

It really is. We were very lucky to have arrived just at the right time. And even then, as I mentioned we missed them working the first stop.

Real life shunting puzzle 😄 "Prototypical" is becoming a bit of a dirty word overhere on the continent, some people swear by it, some to it. I don't get it, those two cars blocking the road, they could've been pushed over the road just as easily?
@ThePixelDepotLLC3 жыл бұрын
There must have been a good reason why they left the cars blocking the road. Whether is was to control the traffic flow or what, I don’t know.

Just speculating here, but looking at the track arrangement there in the satellite imagery shows a short straight segment crossing the road and then a fairly stiff curve just a short distance in from the road. I know when I worked for the railroad, trying to couple cars together in a curve was a PITA. We avoided it if possible. While those couplers do have some lateral movement, having them straight went a long way to getting a good hitch.

Interesting. The North Shore derives its heritage back to the early days of the DL&W, but yet all of its locomotives they utilize are not of EL parentage.

Typical of a short line company, though. They often take what they can get for reasonable money.

@@ThePixelDepotLLC I figured that of the approx. dozen-or-so locomotives' that there would be one could have lineage to the EL- saving the GP38-2s.
