Great stuff there. Awesome collection. I just started collecting brass barrel keyed rail switch locks that kept kids from messing with the tracks.

Great collection . What do you use for the power source for the wig wags ?
@rileydog36210 ай бұрын
12 volt batteries or battery chargers work great.

Beautiful collection of railroadiana you have there. I had a couple of Adlake switch lamps many years ago but sold them when I needed some extra cash. Wish I had held onto them. I really like the kerosene lamps when they are kept as oil burners and not electrified. Back in the 1960s and '70s I used to ride Fall excursions on the Western Maryland Rwy out of Baltimore. They still had kerosene switch lamps in their major yards and it was neat to see them lit in the evening with the light softly flickering through the lenses. They used lunar lenses with white targets for the straight track position and amber lenses with yellow targets for the side track. Derail switch lamps had red with red when set and amber with yellow when removed. I heard that Chessie scrapped all those old lamps when they took over the WM. Shame...a lot of WM fans like myself would have gladly bought them for better than scrap price! I'll have to check around my area for a couple lamps to restore.

Just got a Dressel CRR of NJ....just like the one in this video. Lots of soot inside/outside......I’d like to clean out the soot on it. Any good method to do that? Just use a regular brush? I appreciate any thoughts.

Where can you obtain replacement parts for these old lanterns? I have an old Handlan switch lantern from the Indiana Harbor Belt RR that needs replacement lens gaskets.

Mate you are bloody fantastic! I would love to see this stuff, do you light up the oil lamps?
@rileydog3628 жыл бұрын
In the wintertime when it is damp out I do. I have another video of barricade lanterns and torches burning in a snow storm. Thanks for wayching !

Of course. THank you for showing all the mechanism in the signalling equipment, I noticed that the lamp in your semaphore goes out when the arm returns to danger, is that a wiring feature or is it something you intend to fix?
@rileydog3628 жыл бұрын
It needs fixing . I was testing it with a battery charger but needs the lamp wired on a separate circuit. I may be adding a wig wag there and will do a permanent power source then. Stay tuned !

How often do you come across Central Railroad of New Jersey lanterns/signals? I’m trying to find CRR of NJ related items. Thanks....Tony

Hi...great video. I’m about to get a Central Railroad of NJ Dressel signal just like yours from this video. Do you recommend restoration for it? Thanks....Tony
