I took Amtrak from Philly to Buffalo in late Oct. of '90. (A 12 hour trip- needlessly long as the train plows north to Albany, then hooks a left to go west to Buffalo/Niagara region.. ) We were dropped off at Depew, NY station & bussed to a trailer adjacent to a dumpy little, little station near the old Aud & the Marine Midland building. The station itself was closed and the small trailer subbed for a ticket office/train station. Lame, as I'd missed out on the glory that supposedly was the Buffalo Terminal Building. I stayed at a 3-story building at Main & Depew Sts. with my old long distance relationship girlfriend, Amy, who went to the Uni@Buffalo. Hey, favor ? If you're still in that area, would you shoot a short video of Main St. & Depew St. ?.... We we in the building on the south-east corner, the 3-story building. I know this is a ballsy request, but I have fond memories of the 10 days I spent there.... I also have stage-4 colo-rectal cancer & will likely never make it out there again. (I am in Delaware, 51 and sickly, truth be told... So if you're still in the area & willing... I also at wings at the Anchor, saw a Sabres game vs. Boston Bruins at The Aud, (3-3 tie & fight filled...) and saw the movie "Avalon" (a Barry Levinson flick) at a theater on Main St., met many obnoxious Bills fans.... I was 22 years old & in the prime of my life back then, and have many fond memories of Buffalo. I also love railfanning & miss Conrail Blue. In Delaware the other day, I caught an engine movement that included an RS-36, freshly repainted in Delaware & Hudson schemed paint job. Lame cell phone video of it is on my page, if ya wish... The engine was sold by now defunct Delaware Coast Line RR in Georgetown, DE & was being moved to Harrington, DE when I shot the footage. It is on it's way to it's new owner, the Battenkill RR in NY. Check it out, if ya'd like. I was shocked to catch this engine, didn't expect it. And I don't own decent recording equipment- just my wife's cell phone. I was lucky to film it at all, really. Be in touch if you have the time or inclination to film the corner of Main & Depew ? I know it may be an imposition, so if ya can't, I get it....😎

I rode by the Buffalo passenger monstrosity on the Maple Leaf about 15 years ago and my thought was that centuries in the future a team of archeologists is going to have a field day unearthing this humongous wreck. The crumbling umbrella shelters pretty much said it all.

I grew up in Silver Creek, NY about 30 miles south of Buffalo. Main lines for Conrail (now CSX) and Norfolk Southern go through there, lots and lots of trains every day. Now age 48, I still remember the thrumming of those EMD's, it was music to my ears! Could hear them coming from a long ways off, and going by up close you could just feel them pounding your chest! Good stuff.

Buffalo was a major railroad hub years ago. This video doesn't feature sprawling railroad yards that were close by. In other ways, still love Buffalo when I go there.
