Railside Ride - Avontuur Narrow Gauge Railway Part 2 - Greenbushes to St Albans

This is part 2 of the Railside Ride Series, where we explore the Avontuur Narrow Gauge Railway. The world famous Apple Express operated on this line, with the final train running to Avontuur back in 2010. The line has remained unused for more than 13 years, and we compare some areas in current day to footage from my archives.
Part 2 kicks off at the Seaview road level crossing just after Greenbushes station, staying close to the line as far as possible until coming to an unexpected end some distance after St Albans. Points of interest along the route include Fairview Race Course, Progress Flight Academy and Hitech Automotive. Apart from a few unqiue challenges, this section is traversed reletively uneventfully.

Love this. I used to volunteer on that railway for a number of years. Lots of places to explore. Tried myself but safety is sometimes an issue. Another good one to try, especially with dirtbikes, would be the PPC cement branch running from Chelsea through Bridgemead

Thanks for the feedback! The PPC branch is definitely on the to-do list, most of is still pass-able, but some areas are badly overgrown unfortunately, and the first section at Chelsea is now fenced off.. I'll get some decent overhead footage of all the sections we can't do on the bikes.. Stay tuned :D

You can't get into trouble if you stay on/next to the track, as it is property of Transnet. so "quack" all the fences and bring on part 3!
