I’m confused. There are 4 troughs but 5 rail ties. If you are in a trough and the spike is touching one I understand that it goes in that one, but what if it’s just in the middle?

Mark Grant, If you throw a spike into a trough, you can score the spike into either of the Ties that touch that trough. The spike just has to touch the grass in order to score, but it doesn’t matter what Tie it’s touching, if any.
