Railvac in action at Dean station 05/10/2014

Best film i've seen of the beast working. I conducted a brief timekeeping survey at Dean about 6/7 years ago and spent many happy hours sitting at the station watching the world go by. Nice to know they are also looking after the track there as well! Good bit of film, thanks for posting it!

worked with this for 2 years, saves alot of graft, the guys who normally operate these come from Sweden and are here for months before going home and another set replace them, there are about 4 railvacs that I've personally worked with from railcare not sure if they have more

The Railvac was an impressive piece of kit. I knew a lot about the operations of it. I got to know two chaps who worked on it a lot, a Swedish chap called Lafe (I'm not sure on spelling), he stayed in Winchester with a colleague of his while the Railvac was based at Totton Yard. Do you know him?

justinfoulger there were a few teams but no I don't think I know those guys, (some have been sacked now because they all share a House when they're over here and they're kicked out if the other team members don't like them lol) They are very skilled people not just operating the boom but they also have been trained to fix the whole train too incase something goes wrong on it, very handy people to have around

It's a Shop-vac on steroids. It's sucking up the roadbed ballast.

Where can i buy a Railvac from ..? Network Rail ...? or RC Coyle ..? i want a second hand one if i can get one , failing that i will have to buy Brand new.

Great Machine to watch work, probably doing the work that 10 men would do. The only guy that i noted working loosening stuff from under the sleepers was the ONLY guy without his Hard Hat. H + S would throw a round of F---s into this gangs safety rep.
