Railway Complex San Rosendo Bio Bio Video 4K UHD/ Train Cemetery / Railway Turntable / Locomotive

RAILWAY COMPLEX: During 1929 a large complex of industrial buildings with monumental characteristics was built in San Rosendo, destined to the maintenance requirements of the steam trains of the time. In the beginning, the powerhouse and the bunker.
The first facility was built under a single model in the whole country, a Turntable with a diameter of 100 meters, and was capable of serving 36 steam engines simultaneously.
Water Towers, with a height of 40 meters and with a capacity for 450 tons of coal, is considered the only one of its kind in Chile and South America.
To these true masses of reinforced concrete was added the construction of two water cups with a capacity for 50 thousand liters that, together with teacher training buildings, materials and offices, harmoniously configured a railway enclosure in which 400 officials came to work during the period of greatest boom of railways in the town.
This complex is called the San Rosendo Railway Complex. However, in the 1970s a progressive decline in railway activity began in Chile, which has caused an insurmountable crisis for the commune since then.
It should also be mentioned that, after the military coup in 1973, all the railway units were raided, shooting workers from the maestranza, as well as at other railway facilities in the country.
Thus, over the years, the monumental facilities of the complex were left in total abandonment and deterioration, being completely devalued.
