Thanks for sharing! We're really excited about the opportunities this creates, not to mention the emissions savings.

IMHO, such light rail vehicles are the future of all railroads in the world. The UK has always been the best in railroad inventions for people. We do not need 200+ mph high speed trains, we need simple things for an everyday life.

Except this concept is nothing new, Pacer trains have been around for decades, it's the infrastructure that's at issue. All this does is take the same concept and make it lighter and slightly cheaper, from what I understand

This isnt a new mode, its just the usage of a single railcar on a low patronage service. Something done since 1880.

I could see something like this running Between the old Sheffield Victoria station and Fox Valley Retail Park in Stocksbridge.

If the vehicle height could be substantionaly lowered for platform access, then it would be ideal for our poorly maintained tram networks (due to lack of funding) across the UK.

Good video, but i would have liked to see it and hear it moving? Looks nice though.

What is the top speed? Can it be automated? The absolute dream would be for local rail services to use trains like this, that can be automated so that instead of 4 cars every 30 minutes you could have 1 every 8, meaning timetable-less 24/7 transit for lower population towns and cities
@flyingpanhandle Жыл бұрын
Problem with that is local rail tend to have a lot of crossings. Some of these crossings would effectively be closed permanently if trains every 8 mins.

If a new bay platform was constructed at telford central, these could run services in and out of iron bridge!

Hasn't Parry been doing this for 10 years? Albeit without bogies as yet...

The Parry people movers. Have been demonstrated in different form for ages, but I think our Financial wizards haven't invested as they could see no reason to ,until now! Increasing power costs kick-starting their wallets!! Surprised it's not made in China!! It's very much like a Viva Rail concept?remeber how that was slagged off?

@@duck1946 and now we're hearing that diesel locos are being used in preference to electric, because the diesel isn't rising along with nat gas, whereas electricity is. 😮

I’d like to hear if units are designed for repair-ability if a collision with an automobile occurs at a level crossing.

So it's basically a railbus?
@АклызМелкенды2 жыл бұрын
would be so much cooler if it had 3rd rail
@hoixthegreat83592 жыл бұрын
@@АклызМелкенды the lack of 3rd rail is to reduce cost - the lack of grounding and road digging needed reduces the cost of this system compared to a traditional tram by multiples.
@АклызМелкенды2 жыл бұрын
@@hoixthegreat8359 yeah, but they are harmful to the environment and so on and so forth, personally I just don't like battery busses or trams

Nice try. But it won't happen. Sorry. Most of the lines where it could have been successful are now closed and irrevocably built on.

If only the billions squandered on the pointless (no pun intended) vanity project that is HS2 was instead spent on reinstating key pre-Beeching routes, our population and economy as a whole would have benefitted far more.
