Nice footage Mike and you had an interesting conversation with the owner. I believe this is the loco which was on "Santa" duties at the Bo'ness and Kinneil heritage railway last August 2015, when my family and I visited the line. Looking forward to part 2. Thanks. Keno

Hi Mike. Hope you don't mind, posted your vid on a local site SPLOTLANDS A facebook site. Their has recently been a lot of discussion concerning 'Jessie' that was her name at the Splott Park playground where generations of Splott children played on her. It will be a source of pleasure to the members of that group to see 'JESSIE in her glory today. I have over the past few weeks been chasing Jessie around the net. And posting the info into the forum. Finding this tonight is a mega bonus. I also expect BTR to gain I am sure there will be many visitors over the next few days from the SPLOTLANDS group.

Actually, 2007 was the first year that Jessie was coverted to Thomas for the first time up till Late 2009 then became Jessie again from 2010 till 2011 because Jinty 47298 was back in traffic from early 2010 until late 2012. Then because 3F Jinty No.47298 was purchased by Ian Riley and Sons, Bury in 2012, Jessie was Re-coverted back to Thomas again and entered service in early February 2013.

Is the loco contracted out to shunt main line freight wagons regularly, and might this be cheaper than keeping a dedicated 08/09 on standby ?

Mike, Me and a friend are ex-pats living in California for 25 years or so. We are on a mission to photograph every remaining BR steam engine. Yes a little nuts from 6000 miles away. Is there anything still at Barry and if so where ? Our next trip is in April. Thank you for your help. Gary

Barry Tourist Railway has changed since it was Barry Island Railway. All the old locos in the shed have moved elsewhere depending on their owners.This loco is only here for a service by its owner until she moves on in February. They have a 73 running and a 20 in a different shed still being worked on. Contact me in April if you need any [e-mail]
