It is brilliant to see these old ladies still working hard. I think they are the most beautiful engines that we ever had and the sound that they make on tick over and then revving up is just so cool. It is great to see them being kept looking so well all credit Irish Rail

Pity so many lines were taking up in the past .It's now we really need the railways in Ireland to move goods and people. Great footage

Even now we could be using what’s there better. Lorries are drawing timber up and down the country every hour of every day while freight depots are mothballed, timber yard sidings removed. Even the lines that were closed remain in public ownership and if there was any real intent to use them, they could be re-layed.

IE are looking to Stadler now for locomotives. Will be pretty similar to the ones operating in the UK and continental Europe, I'd imagine. Hopefully, you preserve your 2 main locomotive types. I travelled on the enterprise service between Belfast and Dublin and thought at the time they were better than anything we had in the UK.

Excellnt stuff! Kudos for getting out in the pouring rain for one clip. Also - is there a reason why the spoil wagons are so shallow?
@irishrailtrains22 күн бұрын
@inquisitor229 Thank you, I'm not actually sure why they're so shallow. If I'd had to guess, I would say it's to allow for easier loading / unloading.

Great video as always! Why do loco hauled trains in Ireland require two tail lamps? In Britain, loco hauled trains typically only have one tail lamp.
@irishrailtrains22 күн бұрын
@GraceFoulques Thank you, I'm not actually sure to be honest, I would assume it's for better visibility at night.

Brilliant video, just wanted to know how do you know that these movements happen because in England we have realtime trains so we can track them so how do know if they're coming. Anyway Great video.
@irishrailtrains22 күн бұрын
@mrclass43 Thanks, unfortunately we don't have that luxury. Instead, someone has to tell you that it's operating.
