Rain, 50mph winds in a VW Campervan in Wales...what else could go wrong?

It's our 17th wedding Anniversary, I forgot to tell you that!
I was working away so we decided to have a few days in Wales in our T5 Campervan. We knew the risk with the weather but nothing prepared us for the storm we arrived in.
Despite the 50mph winds, the torrential rain and a flat battery we still had a lovely time and found glimpses of sunshine and stunning scenery.
Our next question is... should we upgrade to a motorhome? This is to be continued.

Welcome to winter in North Wales! The Min Y Don is a superb site and Harlech has the best beach in Wales. The whole area is beautiful. Hope the weather has not put you off coming back.

The sunsets are spectacular in this part of the world. We have a bungalow in between Harlech & Barmouth and it was lovely seeing you drive such a familiar route along the coast road. We never get bored of those views. It’s worth going in the summer, if the weather’s sunny and hot there’s no better place to be x

@@LadyBMotorhomeAdventures it really is! It’s a shame I can’t share pictures of the sunsets. BBQ’s on the beach as the sun sets - nothing better. Have a look at Islawrfforrdd Caravan Park. It’s not cheap but the facilities are 5* and it’s literally on the (dog friendly) beach. Pubs, restaurants, take aways all close by. Barmouth is 4.5 miles which you can walk to if the tides out. Railway line takes you as far as Pwhelli or right to Birmingham! (I don’t work for Islawrfforrdd btw but have friends on the site & have walked through it since a child!). X

Min-y-Don is a great base from which to explore. You can take the mainline train from Harlech right up the coast to Minffordd for Portmeirion and on to Criccieth, which is a beautiful coastal town. Alternatively, head south a short distance to Barmouth. Takes all the hassle out of where to park the motorhome for a day out.

Barmouth & Black Rock Sands, 2 favourite places in North Wales, You should try Coed Brenin There is a nice 4.5 mile walk through the forest with the dogs off lead
