When we found the perfect location to start our down town micro farm, with just over two acres of beautiful useable land and a cute little farm house it all began. We moved in late June immediately working on transforming the 80 Ft by 80 yard into a garden. We first started using garden hoses with a filter attached because of high (chlorine levels), but this became really costly and the filter only lasted less than two weeks and water bill was out of control. We had always wanted a rain water system this was proof we could not afford not to have one. When upgrading our yard to a rain water system we decided to bury one inch lines so we can have spigots throughout the yard without having without having 150 feet of garden hose from the house to trip over! Once we had a few friends over and they saw system and starting about their water bills / watering bans and course conserving water to save our environment and realized we had to share these water systems with others.

I happened to find your channel while trying to find an off grid solution for our camper. We have an external filtration ( 3 stage) would something like this have enough psi to feed the RV? Should I add a tank to keep steady pressure?

Excellent video! This definitely will make my three new rain barrels easier to use. Two questions. First, will the water flow as well in a 1/2 inch 50 foot hose as it does in a 25 foot? Second, have you discovered any way to fit a regular 3/4 inch hose? Just curious!

I've had 150 feet of hose on a demand pump works great but do put in a screen on the inlet side of the pump and he's right keep the pump dry one of the utube videos haa it mounted in a toat but he also has his battery and controller in there as he like me have 12 volt on demand pumps his is fully automatic mine will be as well my original pump lasted 10 years it now needs to be rebuilt as the pressure switch is sticking off I just give it a tap and it turns on also it doesn't put out the volume it used to but it's been well used and abused its only been the last 3 years I'm been covering it up and only part of this year that I have had a screen on the inlet it's strange how we get set in our ideas of how it should be done I kept looking for a 1/2 inch screen for the end of the hose I drop into my barrels couldn't any then I bought a new 12 volt on demand RV style pump and it came with a inline screen same one I had bought but hadn't figured out how to use it then when I bought the new pump I realized that the reason why it was male one side and female on the other side was that it was designed to screw onto the inlet side of the pump so I did that on the new one I'm using it for house water and using old hot water tanks for holding my water one of which I've used for 6 years for a pressure tank and it especially has a lot of fine rust and coal dust from the well in it so I put a big filter between the tanks and the pump first filter plugged up in less than a week I figured that it would be cheaper to get town water that a new driven well and much better water tried to start my plants indoors in April but had no rain water so used the well water plants started out good but then died guess that they could handle our well water and it plugged them up so now we'll use town water but I'm putting 4 barrels downstairs along with the pump and controller and I'll tie them to the rain barrels outside have 3 for the house and 1 each for for the sheds and garage that'll give me 10 barrels 450 imperial gallons of rain water a good rain will fill them all I'm putting a float switch on each system so if I run out of water it shut the water pumps off

Unless that pump and connection are a weird thread mine are 1/2 inch male iron pipe since mine was an old one I salvaged it had no fitting or screen with it finally bought a screen but when setting up well and water tank pumps the screen was always at the end of the suction pipi in the tank or down the well I didn't think of attaching it to the pump until I bought a new 12 volt on demand RV style pump and it came with a inline screen and fittings non of the pumps in my RVs have had a inline screen but for water from a rain barrel it makes sense

Do you leave the water supply on all the time, or is it best to turn off the water that goes to the pump when your done?

you many be able to do one but you would want to check the GPM of the sprinkler. The pump is rated at 3.3 GPM but always cut 2/3 of the rating if you want any pressure out of a pump.
