Excellent idea. The only thing I would change is I would put the pump intake below the water outlet of the barrels. Better for the pump life long term.

I recently started thinking about doing this. But after watching this video certainly it certainly shed light on some of the questions and how the how to's. Certainly adding this to my project list. Thanks for sharing!

This is perfect. I have rain barrels for my garden but use a hand pump and watering can to water the garden. But mostly I'm lazy and just use city water. I've got to do this project. I have a solar panel with a charge controller. So I'm already half way done. I just ordered the pump and battery from Amazon. I'll let you know how it works out.

@rutterrealtygc Do I need an inverter for this? I have a sponsor that will pay for me to experiment with this.

its .036 PSI per inch so If your waters head is 11 feet in the air you get 5 PSI. 1.5 to 2.5 PSI is doable with a crib.
@rutterrealtygc2 ай бұрын
Glad I don't have to worry about that now. Good to know though!

Very helpful video! The pump suggested is "currently unavailable" on Amazon. Is there an alternative pump you would recommend that's currently in stock? Thank you so much!

Any 12 RV pump with a pressure switch should do. Mine was 5 gallon/minute and 55 psi. Here’s another example. www.amazon.com/dp/B0BF9VYCK8/ref=sspa_mw_detail_0?ie=UTF8&psc=1&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9waG9uZV9kZXRhaWwp13NParams

Thank you! Great video with all the steps. I've wanted to do this because I'm tired of filling buckets from my rain barrels. Looks like you had lots of water pressure. Would it have enough power to run a sprinkler?
@rutterrealtygc3 ай бұрын
Absolutely! It can definitely run a sprinkler!

So when you use the system do you have to turn it on and off? Could I possibly hook it up to a water timer?
@rutterrealtygc26 күн бұрын
You do not have to turn it on and off. You could hook it up to a water timer, but you probably want to incorporate a safety switch that will turn it off whenever your water supply is to low so your pump doesn’t burn up

"45 degree angle". As far as I know, the ideal angle for a solar panel is whatever your latitude is. If you're at 20 deg north, face the panels south and tilt them 20 from horizontal. If you're at 45 degrees north, then 45 degrees is the right angle.
@rutterrealtygc6 ай бұрын
Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll have to look that up. I just did a quick search for the ideal angle and it was a range based on time of year and time of day. 😊👍

Nice video! To clarify, this is not a true MPPT controller, it’s really a PWM controller. MPPT is the brand name. This mislabeling unfortunately is a common issue with the less expensive Amazon/ eBay controllers. This charge controller also lacks true LiFePO4 battery profile charging so battery will only get up to 90% full. Not a problem if the limitations work for you. Back of napkin calculations indicate yours will for your needs.

If you took the teflon tape and did it counter clockwise...wouldn't that prevent the unraveling of the tape in place of wrapping it 4 times?

I'm starting a nursery business on my property, but my county water pressure is so low that I can't run sprinklers. I have a couple ibc totes that I can connect together and use this to run sprinklers/hoses/mist system. I've been looking for a solution that's cheaper than $3000 to repair the well. Thanks!
