Thank you for the video. I'm trying to set-up something very similar and currently evaluating different sprinklers. Once problem I am consistently running in is that all the metal spikes leak. In your video I don't see that happening. Any ideas?

13 years ago we built this house new. We decided to install lawn irrigation. We went to Rain Bird on line and they were a really big help. We sent them our foot print and they sent us a diagram and parts list. We rented a trencher and made trenches around the house then spider webbed out to sprinkler heads. We used a post hole auger and augered down until we hit water. We put a 6 inch sch. 40 PVC down the hole as a well casing then put the sand point in the casing and pounded it down. Water was at 8 feet and the sand point was 14 feet. Total cost to us was just under $800.00 and easily added 4K to the value of our home.

Using three Voyageur 2's with the first two running half circles (low angle .5 liter per minute) then the last one (low angle 1 liter per minute) three quarter circle over heavy clay. Going five hours, once a week. No problems with pressure, try the small nozzles. Cut up a hundred foot Flexzilla hose to plumb it and tacked down the hose with landscape staples. I wanted the bright green hose to hopefully prevent trips and falls. Good review and I tried those other Voyageurs last year but I feel the 2's have the advantage to deliver the water slower into my clay and they came with eight nozzles each and that handy tool!

I work in professional irrigation. I can tell you that the brand I see fail the most is Orbit. They are made cheaply and won't last long. I would suggest sticking with Rain Bird 5000s.

Keep in mind that you can always use smaller nozzles in the 5000 so you can have more heads per zone.

Any thoughts on the melnor hose-end sprinklers like this Turbo Rotary Sprinkler www.amazon.com/dp/B000OZV21W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_RwmgDbW716YCK or this one Melnor Multi Adjustable Lawn Sprinkler on a Spike with Integrated Flow-Control, Waters Up to 30 ft. Diameter, Adjustable Spray Angle ,Direction and Length www.amazon.com/dp/B0773ZLW9J/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_OxmgDbNF1G82W . They are just so much cheaper than the hunter or rainbird. I need to cover about 6,000 sq ft for my overseeding project this year, so I got a 4-way hose spigot timer and I'm planning on just running a few different zones with these type of sprinklers for about a month or so until the grass establishes since I dont have in-ground irrigation. Any thoughts on this? I might get a couple of impacts for the larger areas and mix it up a bit too.

With that first one you can make the spray even better with the set screw.... screw it down further and you will get better short spray to get the grass right in front of it.

Save your bad sprinkler heads. The tops can be removed and different heads put on. Most have a 1/2" thread top that you can thread brass pipes in to elevate the coverage. The spinning heads will fit these stakes to remove them from rollers & bases. Be sure to dope any thread connections. I have a few non-moving heads for alleys. Built my system for around $300. 🐀🐾

DIY Reid that orbit voyager is a damn good sprinkler head for what it is! It will blow that Rain Bird away and that orbit that you can adjust the tips on don’t expect much from it except for being able to change the Tips Conveniently. As far as how many voyagers you can use it depends on how many hoses you’re willing to split at the source! You need volume I don’t see any problems with getting four of those voyagers pumping water from one bib! You just Gotta make sure you got some thick hose and you split it right at the bib

@DIYReid
@DIYReid 5 жыл бұрын
You’re talking about two different things here. Pressure is different than flow.
@Blougheed
@Blougheed 5 жыл бұрын
@@DIYReid yes you are correct.. however flow and pressure go hand in hand... 3 heads pumping out a total of 5lph @65psi(stock nozzle) vs 3 heads pushing 3lph @65psi will result in a different pressure at each of the heads.

This connects it to the spike - amzn.to/3fDhBtG and this converts 3/4 to 1/2 thread from the sprinkler - amzn.to/2U56PTM. The rain bird is just 1/2" so it doesn't require the reducer.

have your utility mark the lines, rent a trencher and get after it. Use all Rainbird components. Its acutally pretty easy. Use swing pipes or you will be sorry. Don't put the heads directly on the PVC supply pipe with a nipple.
