Good video, thanks! I have that same setup with the falcon rotor/sled. Had my plumber run a hose bib outside before the house pressure reducer. I have about 110-115psi on that line lol. That sprinkler puts out some serious water.
@YouCanDoItLawnCare3 жыл бұрын
Wow! That would be awesome. I only have 62 spsi. What nozzle are you using and how long does it take to deliver ½ inch of water to the midpoint of the spray over a half circle?

@@YouCanDoItLawnCare I haven't ever measured water amount over a given time. I have zoysia grass in a kinda northern area for zoysia so I really only pull the sprinkler out twice in the summer. I know when I have the biggest orfice on the rotor the actual base/sled rises up.

@@bluelude2001 I bet it does. From Big Sprinkler’s website: ( NOTE: The Jumbo Sled Rotor Sprinkler is designed for systems using a garden hose with flow rates of 6-10 gpm and pressures between 20-70 psi. The force of the spray from flow and pressures greater than 10 gpm and 70psi can cause the sled base to tip over. Restricting your flow at your spigot and adjusting your nozzle size can prevent this from happening. )

Its important to remember when comparing these 2 specific rotors that each have a specific operating pressure range called by the manufacturer, the falcon has a wider range between 30psi and 90psi, whereas the i40 has an operating range between 40-90Psi, different spring strengths in the rotors as well as outside factors such as your choice of nozzle in each, supplied dynamic pressure and flow rate of your water supply and friction loss in that hose are going to widely change the Radius as well as Precipitation rate of each of these heads differently which will effect the rain curtain distribution so it will be very difficult to get "equal" results from any difference in manufacturer, I would say choose whichever brand you like more overall and that brand will carry something that can be properly matched to your needs and your water source setup for "near perfect" results for your specific situation. it is also important to keep in mind that each of these rotors depending on nozzle selection can Demand OVER 35GPM! to Provide a proper rain curtain! that's a lot of water! Both Great Products and Interesting video

My intent for this video was to show how these two comparable rotors perform individually on a portable sled supplied by a typical garden spigot and ¾-inch ID hose and how I was able to achieve good results with one of them even when spaced farther apart than the standard head-to-head coverage used in professionally installed irrigation systems. I tried all the relevant nozzles and chose the best-performing nozzle for each rotor. However, no matter what nozzle I tried, I could not make the I40 rotor produce a “rain curtain” as even as the Falcon’s. I’m glad you took the time to watch my video, and I appreciate your comment.

so I just had a full sprinkler system installed.. Wouldn't this issue you experienced be negated when they install the heads to over lap back towards each other? My system, (And most others I've seen.. ) have the spray patterns overlapping head to head, to negate the dry spots

Yes, that's how professional sprinkler systems are installed.

i have experience with hunter only, but you compare underground sprinklers above the ground. it would be better to compare them when they installed in the soil.
@YouCanDoItLawnCare2 жыл бұрын
I tested them this way because this is how I use them. Mounted this way, they spray from about a foot higher than if installed “in-ground”; therefore, the spray extends about a foot farther from the spray head. If you install them “in-ground,” the spray pattern will move about a foot closer to the spray head. I hope this helps.

Was Rainbird the head they use on that and you just swapped a hunter on to it?
@YouCanDoItLawnCare3 жыл бұрын
Basically, yes. I bought the base and Hunter sprinkler head separately and assembled them myself. The base is normally sold with the Rain Bird.
