Are These The BEST Sprinkler Heads? Rain Bird 5000 Plus Rotors Review

I've tried several rotor models of rotor sprinkler heads, for me the Rain Bird 5004 PC are the best ones that I've used. Thanks for watching!

I have been running the Rainbird 5004+ for the past 20 years using a bore with high levels of calcium and sand (you've got to love living on a sand plain). I have had to replace around 30% over the years, mainly with gear failure, but the rest are going strong. The replacements were Hunters, they are failing much more quickly and are now being replaced by Rainbird 5004+ again. Cannot speak highly enough of these sprinklers - just wish they were more readily available in shops (I have to buy online)

I have had Rain Birds for 30 years and always thought they worked well. The landscaper who just installed my sod went with Hunters. For some reason these guys seem to like them. Maybe they get a deal on them who knows. Nice job on the video. My lawn just started some fungus issues going on the 4th week since installed. It's a ongoing struggle with KBG but the Fall will show its true colors lol

In my experience, Hunter does not last very long and leak all the time. I’m always replacing Hunter rotors for repair jobs. At first they seem great but they always end up crapping out early.

These are some pretty sweet sprinkler heads. I wish I would have done a bit more research before beginning to replace almost all of mine with the Orbit Voyager II. I like the Orbit's but these Rain Birds have some great features. One thing I wish all rotor style sprinkler heads did was allow you to adjust both directions of the arc with the key. In my experience, you can adjust one side of the arc with the key but to adjust one side of the arc with these style sprinkler heads, you have to unscrew the sprinkler from the body. Correct me if I'm wrong but that's what I have experienced.

Thank you for this informative video! I have 12 zones on my property which contain about 4 heads each. Every summer I am replacing anywhere from 2 to 3 heads because they fail to rotate. I live in Michigan and every year I have a company come out to blow out the lines, so they don't freeze over the winter. The entire system runs on Hunter PGP heads. One thing I have noticed when they blow out the lines is that the pressure being used is 100psi. I am starting to wonder if that high pressure is damaging the heads. My well puts out around 60psi which shouldn't be an issue. I am going to try replacing the bad Hunter heads with these Rainbird 5004 heads to see how they work out, especially with that built-in pressure regulator.

100 PSI is a little high, when blowing out the lines you want more volume of air not so much high pressure.

My installer put in a mix of 5000 and 5004 and I don't know why. My frontyard has a hill and grass immediately around the sprinkler us green but further out has gone dormant. I think i have too much pressure or the head is not high enough. I think switching to 5004 will solve the issue. Any thoughts? Great video!

Please explain what you mean by "Rain Curtain". Will this handle the problem of not watering well closer in to the nozzle?
