Peace out with the Peaceful Parrot amongst relaxing nature sounds from East Coast Australia.
Enjoy the peaceful sounds of a high summer afternoon. We start with a little light rain and distant bird call. There's a little duh-dunking of a lazy windchime, but it settles shortly and disappears. The Sulphur Crested Cockatoos, King Parrots, Lorrikeets, Kookaburras and Currawongs do their evening calls to each other as they bunk down for the night. Rich cicada call rises with the birds bunking down, and then cuts off sharply leaving just the gentle call of crickets. The crickets abate, the sun has fallen, and it's a gentle faint dusk.
It's the perfect sound track for any homesick Australian from South East Queensland to Western Victoria. You'll feel at home with the sounds of the dusk.
About our main actor: this adorable puffball turned up, investigated and slightly-harassed our live camera, before falling asleep in the rain. It's a free-flying (wild) local Sulphur Crested Cockatoo, which are abundant in inner-urban Sydney, and on all the fringes, and basically any suburb that has old trees. They're apparently as smart as a 3 year old human and they live to roughly 40 years in the wild.
About the sound: The sound recording is a live afternoon in Sydney. It is not a composite. It was not recoreded at precisely the same spot as the cockatoo, because though it sounds much the same at the camera site, to a microphone it sounds mostly like the drone of hot air-conditioning exhaust. There's a few distant jumbo jet passes, and faraway cars or other human-sounds. We didn't edit them out because they give a real 'backyard' feel.
