We all knew Rocky Hansen was special, but somehow he still managed to shock everyone. Looking forward to seeing how the rest of the season unfolds. Also, big congratulations to Graham Blanks on taking home the individual victory.

@@dylandixon4058 xc times are irrelevant. Courses can be short or long or hilly or flat. The point is he wasn’t winning on a national stage really at all and now he’s surprised people by being the best freshman in the entire NCAA. He was always my sleeper pick but many wouldn’t have predicted that

He has a tattoo of number 2 on his back. I respect that. Everybody wants to be number one. Perhaps Nico is setting a new trend. Number 2 is the new number 1. Seriously though he beat a lot of studs. Samuel from New Mexico is going to be tough. He was 17th at the world xc championships in the senior division and he has already run 27:20 for 10000 at 19. Not a bad guy to beat among many others.

In last year’s NCAA Collegiate Championships, their fifth guy came in 39th. Coincidentally the year before that their fifth guy also came in 39th. They’ve been national champions six of the last seven years (in 2019 they sucked - by NAU standards - and came in second.)

Crazy that NAU’s 5th man was 33rd overall. Even crazier in the Women’s race their 5th runner came in 18th. Crazier still, NAU women have enough left over for a second team to run the B race and they won that too with their first three coming in first, second, and third.

Whoa; I am so excited for Graham Blanks and the Harvard team! (On a personal note, my son roomed with Harvard's cross country team, in Dunster, just before Graham Blanks arrived.) Blanks has been persistent in making improvements from excellent to elite in the NCAA ranks.

Really impressive running and also the production in these conditions. Well done! Something else that I'm impressed about is the timing system. It seems like passive tags were used in this race, and most runners seem to have a green wristband on them. Anyone know if that's the tag for timing? Is there a tag on the bibs as well or any other place? At this density of runners I find it really "odd" that the reliability and accuracy can be this high. I time races myself with passive tags and mats similar to this, but haven't seen it this reliable as of yet.

Running on the grass in the rain would slow him down a bit compared to the Chicago course, but surely he would be up at the front and continue on for 5x longer at that pace, which is still hard to wrap your mind around.

NAU will be even stronger if they get Sahlman back. Also, Prosser seemed to have a leg issue in the last split. Went from 4th to 29th. If he can get into the Top 20 like he did at the Championship last year, no team will beat NAU this year.
