I find so much comfort in the sound of rain.. When I was eight years old,my Dad took me camping in Wales and it rained for 2 out of the 3 days we were there..My parents had separated the year before,so I never really got to spend too much time with him, which was hard,as I was a Daddy's girl. For hours me and my Dad would play card games, then we'd venture out to a café,where we'd eat fruit cake and drink steaming tea,all while the raindrops would roll down the windows...At night my Dad would read me fairy tales, ( which I still love) while the rain played drum like sounds on our tent...Two years later ,my Dad died in a car crash and while it broke my heart to lose him,i still to this very day, forty years later!,am visited by many treasured memories of those rainy days, just me and my Dad,when I hear the sound of raindrops like these...RIP Dad..( Never quite became Snow White, but I volunteer at the local nursery, where loads of little people ,with many different characters, greet me daily... Perhaps I'm closer to my childhood wish then I thought! )

I’m pretending I’m back in Scotland and this time with my camper van. Ive driven to my favourite beach in Fife. It’s windswept and lonesome today but that’s the way I like it. I’ve already walked up the old stone lane to the pub, it’s in the ancient village known for its barns the King would hold his tithes in. I had a bowl of Cullen skink, he first time I saw it on a menu I thought it sounded awful, but it’s full of tender smoked fish, local potatoes and cream. Perfect for this day. My wandering earlier along the beach were slow as the recent storms had brought many treasures to its rocky shore. In amongst the stones I found etched pottery shards, sea glass in tiny tear shapes and wonderful bits of wood. Once I’d even found a part of an ancient ship, the crack beams, square nails and wooden pegs holding it together still. I’d stand and think of all the history from the maurading Danes, the English and their fateful wooing, and all the wee boats that set of for the days catch. Herring, lobsters, haddock, crab, all was on the menu at the pub, fresh caught that day. I made myself a steaming mug of coffee and settled back into the late light and listened to the drumming of rain above me. Bliss.

Sold my house bought a campervan and travelled all over europe in 2006. Was staying in Barcelona and one night a massive thunderstorm started and being from Ireland i've never experienced weather like it. The rain smashed the windows and roof all night and when i looked out the window it was big flashes of fork or pitch lightning, big blue and purple flashes all night. I was worried one would hit my campervan it was so loud and powerful i was actually frightened by it. I had a big bag of weed i sat and smoked while i watched The Empire Strikes Back on my dvd player. Everytime the thunder roared i nearely had a heart attack. I will never forget it.

I have a Mazda 6 and it is a long car. When the back seats are folded down, a blow up mattress fits in nicely. Added to the mattress are a comfy duvet below and above. We check the weather forecast and when it rains, we pack a littler gas cooker, drive into the forest and make tea. Then sleep for a couple of hours until the rain stops. Then drive home. We are in our 50.s and love the romance of rain and super relaxation. I’m in a hotel room right now. So this video reminds me of my wife and the snuggly romantic evenings listening to the rain. Easy uncomplicated life.

For me, it wasn't a campervan, but a caravan. I remember when I was a kid, we would be kept indoors in heavy rain. We'd sit at the table with our colouring books, paints, pens, crayons and pencils; as well as our Fuzzy Felt sets and bucket of Legos. Now and then, we'd wistfully gaze out the window and wish the rain would stop so we could go outside again. I also remember falling asleep to the sound of the rain on the caravan's roof. If it wasn't raining in the early morning before the site's other visitors awoke, we often heard birds walking or running across the roof.

This reminds me of my childhood in Ireland. It reminds me of one memory in particular, a pretty creepy one. I remember the rain was very heavy, and the wind was battering the caravan. My mother was trying to put me to sleep but for some reason I had an overwhelming urge to look outside. I look out the window at the back of the trailer, just by my bed and around 30 - 40 meters away there is a woman standing amongst the wet grass. She's absolutely beautiful, she's wearing a bright blue dress, untouched by the rain and she's smiling and beckoning towards me, urging me to go towards her. At that moment I desperately try to jump out of the bed, I'm crying because I want to go outside to this woman. My mother is holding me tightly, she's whispering in my ear, telling me to ignore her, "don't look at her" she said whilst hushing me to calm down. It wasn't until years later that I started reading about the myths and folklore of Ireland, especially the stories about fairies, how they will try to lure children away and replace them with changelings. I'm not saying that I believe in these things, but I can't help but admit that the memory still makes my blood run cold.

I often listen to rain, crickets, crackling campfires, and ocean waves, and these sounds take me back to those memories I had with my Dad. My mother was mentally ill so it was like I didn't even have a mother. But my father took me and my brother and sister camping every chance he got. With a 29 foot long camper, pulled by a chevy van, we camped in 4 different states all throughout my childhood. I often slept with my window open to listen to the crickets. I remember campfires, marshmallows, bbq's, hiking, rain, swimming in pools and swimming in lakes, lighting fireworks, sand castles at the beach, water slides, wave pool, bike riding on the hilly terrain, fishing, boating through the marsh, and looking at the stars and constellations, listening to coyotes, hiking alongside streams in the mountains. He taught me to love nature, wildlife, the stars, trees and forests, the smokey mountains, and bugs... I miss all the camping and I am filled with grief for losing the person he used to be. Now he is a 75 yr old alcoholic, depressed and verbally abusive to both me and my mother. The last time we went camping together I was 22 years old. I am 41 now. I am afraid of him. I am anxious just trying to talk to him and just being around him. It's too big of a loss for me to even begin dealing with.

I wanted to say "you're not alone" but damn. We're all alone in this. Stay strong, try to relax and don't forget that getting rest is good for you, even without sleep. That thought helps me relax a bit and takes off the I have to sleeeeeep! pressure edge.

perfect... that setting captures the close to the rain, hypnotic, tingly cozyness ... can almost smell the camping gas stove, looks a bit like my own country, Ireland, Norway you say.. must pay it a visit... goodnight

This summer i went camping with my family in a campingwagon, that we rented:) We really liked it and now we are going again with a brand new one that we just bought. Anyways, the sound reminded me of when we went camping in the summer, and it almost rained all summer, so yeah:)

I put this on with headphones whilst busy doing other things on the computer. Its now been 30 minutes and I love it. Its so relaxing and really making me feel more at ease in general. Feel like I'm at my computer in the caravan in the middle of a field on a rainy night

For whatever reason the visual made me cry? it’s the most intense nostalgia I’ve ever felt for somewhere I’ve never been...

I love this video so much ☺️ just one idea though; I think it would be nice if there was a bit more of the camper van interior visible. If we could see more of the interior and make it dusk or nighttime outside with the same rain sounds and window that would be so cosy and comforting. I’d love to see a cosy bed, and some cute little camping goods like portable lanterns, small saucepans and a mini camping stove. Saying that, It’s a great video as it is - your rain on window sound is one of the best I’ve heard. Time to stop typing and start 😴 💤
