Really awesome. I was working for 97x WOXY in Oxford Ohio during the filming. You hear Steve Baker's voice in the movie who was the production director, 97x Bam the future of rock and roll.

Cool! My mom met Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman when Rain Man was filmed here in 1988 - also got to meet Richard Dreyfuss when his 1993 movie "Lost in Yonkers" filmed in the area. Everytime I walk by the Pompilio's in Newport, I think of Ray counting toothpicks 😅 Our family reunion has been held at St. Anne's Convent (Wallbrook) for many years, as my dad's side is largely Catholic

I live in El Reno Oklahoma. I remember going to the Big 8 while they were filming that scene. I was six years old. My mom jumped the police barricade and ran onto the set😂 She got Dustin Hoffman to take pictures with her and his autograph.

I watched the film again 2 days ago for probably the 20th time since 1989 but this time I was thinking for the first time about how the locations shown during that road trip must have been from Cincinnati to Las Vegas as per the film narrative. I spend quite some time on google map of the U.S. trying to have a grasp of it's big geography and I knew this time the film was supposed to show quite different landscapes (which I think it did) from up north to the great plains then troughthe rockies down to L.A. Landscape is a very important feature in a road movie IMO.
@GoingtotheMovies Жыл бұрын
I agree with that on road movies. I have seen some fake it pretty well, but it always makes it better the more real it is.

I took a Ghost tour in Guthrie recently, the lady said the architecture has influences from all over the world. She also said the people on the corner building, the owners, where Rainman was walking from, thought they were going to be rich, but they then chose the building diagonally from it to shoot the psychiatrist scene.

@@GoingtotheMovies Thank you! How do you keep a phone so steady? I know these can't be the most fun questions or videos lol so I really appreciate you taking time to help! :) I have a Samsung galaxy s20fe if that helps lol. Most things I see are for iPhones I think?
@GoingtotheMovies3 жыл бұрын
@@crush41gb No worries at all! I use a DSLR camera mounted to a tripod with two hands on the tripod and the strap around my neck fully extended, but I’m still working on it. Lots of shaky footage in this video, especially in Oklahoma 😂. With the phone, hold it horizontally with your thumbs on the bottom and the rest of your fingers on the top and move slower than you think you need to. The iPhones have a feature that smooths the footage out digitally as well.

Well, this is another fantastic show. It is amazing the lenses that those Panavision cameras have on them. And finding all of the locations and match shots......... WOW!!! I only have one question for you. How on earth did you ever find out where the farm house was in Oklahoma? Loved this one even more than the video you did on Tornado hunters. Howdy again from Texas!
@GoingtotheMovies3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, David! There’s no street view where that house is, but I was able to find the coordinates on movie location website. I can’t remember which website, but a friend of mine that does urban exploration stuff and is from Oklahoma sent me pictures of himself at the house which confirmed it. It’s off by itself, so I didn’t want to drive all the way out there if the coordinates were wrong 😂

I was working at the hospital, St. Luke Hospital in Florence, Ky (now St Elizabeth) when Dustin Hoffman was brought in. I was delivering reports as he was leaving with his group. He literally walked right next to me. I was shocked at how short he is!!!!! You don't have the scene where Raymond left the car on the highway. That happened on I275 near the Turf way road exit. Dustin Hoffman was telling an elaborate elephant joke and fell hurting his hand on rocks He was taken to the hospital where I saw him. The Roebling Bridge is known as the "singing" bridge. Note Dustin Hoffman character hummed on it lolol

Yeah, that would’ve been great. Unfortunately, that street is a private one, but if I’d wandered down there and noticed the woman working at the pool I would’ve asked about the movie!
