Rain Storm in Mountain Hardwear Gore-Tex Jacket | Exposure 2 Plus

A quick down and dirty overview + initial impression of the Mountain Hardwear Exposure 2 Plus which they use Gore-Tex Paclite.
Also mentioned in the video:
Frogg Toggs rain jackets. Ultralight, waterproof and cheap! But lacking durability.
All of my reviews and or overviews are real and my opinion. I actually use all of my gear and not just wear it one time and give a review. I believe a review on backcountry items need real usage and needs to be put through the ringer. Thanks for watching!

I was lucky enough to get the Gen 3 ZPacks rain jacket made from dyneema fiber. Cannot wet out, ever, even in the Pacific Northwet!

@@AndyOnTheMountain it has pit zips and of course the front zipper for breathability. Dyneema doesn't breathe well though. In the Pacific Northwet I am very willing to trade absolute waterproof for a breathable fabric.

Well, that is incorrect. Gen 3 Zpacks Vertice is not made of dyneema fiber. It is made of their "vertice" waterproof breathable fabric, which is a waterproof breathable membrane sandwiched between 7D nylon exterior and tricot lining. It is >20k mmH2O water resistance. Being 7D nylon face fabric, absolutely can lose it's C6 DWR treatment and saturate. By the way, dyneema fabric Zpacks uses on its packs, kilt, etc varies in water resistance. The Zpacks DCF Rain Kilt is 20k mmH2O for example. Dyneema fabric has a rating of anywhere from 1500 and up. The >20k mmH2O rating is technically waterproof, but if you factor in windsheer in harsh environments, rain will penetrate. As others have reviewed, the Zpacks rain jacket quality control and construction just isn't there compared to other ultralights.

@@hanwagu9967 they make a dcf rain jacket if anyone sees this and is curious. It’s different from their vertice one, but Zpacks quality control and durability have always been a deterrent for me so I never tried anything from them.

your jacket is made of gore-tex paclite plus not paclite. Aside from the 2L construction of paclite plus vs 2.5layer paclite, the MH exposure/2 paclite doesn't have a chest pocket, weighs more, and costs $100 less than the paclite plus version.

I’ll be doing a full review of the jacket soon (this video was an overview/ initial impressions) I really can’t find much info on the paclite vs paclite plus other than the layers. Do you have any insight? I even went on Goretex’s website.
